Who will be Trump's VP? [plus] Trump's Vice-President choice?

Longer control of a news cycle if nothing else.

IF one presumes that the GOP convention will otherwise be a positive bump (as conventions usually are) it also avoids having the VP announcement displace any other positive hoohaw. (Of course if the GOP convention is a disaster then a distraction would be a good thing.)

I hope he picks Michael Flynn or Newt Gingrich for maximum kekery and to ensure an amusing VP debate.

In addition to DSeid’s good reasons posted above, Pence has a noon Friday deadline. Indiana law does not allow him to run for two offices on the same ballot.

I suppose he could be on 50 other ballots and have a placeholder on Indiana’s, but that would display a level of disorganization and thoughtlessness that even I wouldn’t . expect … from … Trump’s

Never mind.

It will be Pence.

Overnight, the RNC released the list of speakers at the convention. Gingrich is listed, “VP Nominee” is listed, Pence is not.

Neither is Jeb Bush listed as a speaker. Trump-Jeb!

If it isn’t Pence, I’ll be surprised. But it’s all up to what’s under that ferret atop the blob of orange.

Chris Christie’s not listed either.

Apparently Christ Christie did make the list, I just don’t see him on the one the NYT put out.

Is that a pun, Happy?

I keep thinking it will be Christie. But, on the other hand, he has more definitive TV moments recorded where he flat out says Trump will ruin the country if elected. I don’t see how he can walk those back.

Maybe Pence isn’t speaking because they don’t want to put everyone to sleep?

I’m kind of hoping it’s Newt Gingrich, since between them they have enough wives for a volleyball team.

I vote for Christie. Not in an actual election mind you, but as the choice for Trump’s VP.

IIRC, Gingrich dump two wives who were undergoing cancer treatment. Are either of them now healthy enough for volleyball?

Perhaps not. OK, instead, the eight of them can sit down in two bridge foursomes.

Mike Pence reserves ad time for his gubernatorial race for early August.

Granted, he could cancel it should he get tapped by Don. But he’s obviously not been asked anything official yet, now less than 24 hours out from the announcement.

Trump and Gingrich would cheat.

With their wives? Perish the thought.

The Perot campaign in '92 ended up being stuck with Stockdale because they used him as a placeholder for some early state ballots, and then couldn’t find someone else in enough time to take the slot.

I don’t think you RC. But regardless, his first wife passed away a couple years ago some 30 years after their divorce.

NYT just sent out an alert saying it will be Pence.

Yeah, just heard on the radio that it’s Pence.
