Who will be Trump's VP? [plus] Trump's Vice-President choice?

Damn, I was hoping it would be Newt.

She was the one with whom he wanted to negotiate their divorce with while she lay in a hospital bed.

I lived in Newts congressional district at the time, worked on his 94 campaign a bit, and this was constantly brought up.

… and thus Newt slides back into irrelevancy.

Mike Pence on the issues:

Just a typical Republican that does promises ponies for all but no taxes to fund that. This selection also points to the continuation to the ruinous war on drugs and to discrimination in the possible Trump administration.

@JohnT:
Well, Gingrich’s side of the story is that they just got in a “normal” divorcing couples argument, which is still a little unseemly of course. I doubt he would have planned a negotiation with their two daughters along for the hospital visit.

Wonder what job Trump has planned for old Newt? And for Christie? (now that it’s clear all the people who “called it” were wrong :stuck_out_tongue: )

Well, four years ago, when Mittens announced Paul Ryan, I launched aPaul Ryan Gosling tumblr, and the shit wrote itself for like four months.

I’ll admit, Mike Pence didn’t inspire the same lightning bolt of inspiration that Paul Ryan did. I may have to sit the vice presidential satire game out this year.

I already confuse him with Hunter Pence all the time.

So, never having seen Mike Pence before I googled him.

The second section is his Twitter, and it specifically highlights this tweet:

So Trump selected RFRA Pence as his running mate, eh? Yeah, that’ll help him.

Picks Pence and none the wiser.

i’m very surprised. Pence seems like an overall decent man, although he’s way too religious for my tastes. I would have thought Trump would’ve wanted someone a little more… aggressive in the Chris Christie manner. I never thought Christie made sense since NY/NJ, what’s the diff? but I did think Gingrich had it locked up. He could have done worse than Pence, and at least the guy has the resume to be back-up president even if I don’t agree with many of his policies.

A solidly vanilla choice. He doesn’t hurt the ticket, but I don’t see a lot of help here, either. So Trump has a straight man, playing Dean Martin to his Jerry Lewis.

And now there are several right wing pundits and commentators that do not like that choice:

Yes Ann Coulter, that was Trump first mistake

Yeah, the solid, steady politician with the practical experience of governing sure did a great job with that religious liberty bill. This should go well.

Well, it will lock down the evangelical vote that wasn’t so sure Trump was crazy enough.

I’m reminded of the runup to the 1988 campaign, when Gary Hart was the Democrats’ Great Hope (before that Monkey Business with Donna Rice). The press discovered that Hart had changed his name from Hartpence before going into politics, apparently removing this Dickensian suffix to sound less effete and more populist.

National Review (of course seeing this as proof of the inherent phoniness of liberalism) made their opinion known with a delightful, commentless gag: in one issue’s masthead, they added ‘pence’ to everyone’s surname (‘William F. Buckleypence’, ‘George F. Willpence’, etc.), with the exception of senior editor Jeffrey Hart, whose name was left unchanged.

Anyways, I wonder if this will make NR change their minds about Trump.

I hate to ask, but what, pray tell, is “kekery”?

Free headline: Does Pence Add Value?

Trump’s VP announcement is set for ONE HOUR earlier (11am EDT. Note that though a few Indiana counties are on Central Time, most, including the capital, are on EDT.)

So what odds Trump is planning to Be Unpredictable? The ‘speaking slots’ clues all point to Pence as VP pick, but perhaps that’s misdirection…? If Trump’s pick is actually Ted Nugent, then Pence would still be able to file his running-for-re-election papers in time.

Surprise!!!

Clap…clap…clap…
