Who will be Trump's VP? [plus] Trump's Vice-President choice?

It seems like every time someone endorses Trump people see it as angling for the VP slot.

I think it could end up being Gingrich.

Sources say Perry met with Trump to discuss three potential Cabinet positions he would like to be considered for. Reports indicate Perry was able to name two of the agencies, but couldn’t remember the third.

Santorum.

Who/What else would follow Trump?

I hope its Ben Carson and if not him, Carla Fiorina.

Scroll down to item #3 in this story. This seems to think The Newt is a definite possibility too.

The way I see it, Trump got this far as a celebrity with (a) no experience in military service or elected office; (b) a head of hair that everyone is talking about, and © a willingness to talk up Republican policies in general, but coupled with a willingness to take the left-wing view on an issue like, say, transgender rights.

Trump/Jenner '16.

I doubt it’s Newt. He’s too old and too unlikable. I can’t think of a worse foil to go about against a Hillary/ ??? ticket than to bring back someone who was even less popular than the Clintons.

What does Trump need? He needs someone who can make him look a little less ‘douchey’ toward women and/or minorities. He also needs someone with at least some favorability with the conservative mainstream. He could use someone like a Ted Cruz or Paul Ryan but obviously not them. There’s no way in hell Cruz joins that ticket. Kinda hard to walk back some of the trash that Trump has talked about his family.

I suspect that the list is down to the following:

  • Joni Ernst, Senator from Iowa (could get the women vote, the America fuck yeah vote (a former military commander), the God vote, and the anti-establishment vote)

  • Rick Scott, Governor of Florida (lacking Beltway experience but Florida’s a big, big prize)

  • Tim Scott, Senator from South Carolina (could blunt criticism from minorities, but only slightly)

  • John Thune, Senator from South Dakota (could get more of the establishment support and the God vote possible)

  • Bob Corker, Senator from Tennessee (best able to bring Trump into the mainstream of the republican party)

  • Brian Sandoval, Governor of Nevada (could help mend fences with Latinos but it’s not clear if he’d be able to tolerate working with Donald)

My guess is that Rick Scott, Joni Ernst, Bob Corker and John Thune are probably the top four in no particular order.

Bloomberg has Newt Ginggrichbeing one of the leading candidates.

On Fox News Tuesday night, Trump said he was also considering former Arizona Governor Jan Brewer and Oklahoma Governor Mary Fallin. Others said to be under consideration include Iowa Senator Joni Ernst, Florida Senator Marco Rubio and New Jersey Governor Chris Christie, all Republicans.

Ha, that’s thinking outside the box.

I think I have a pretty solid list here to chose from:

Dennis Rodman

Pat Paulsen (still might be dead)

John Travolta

Guy Fieri

a DT clone, but maybe a foot shorter

Far and away the best choice, then.

Rodman - brings the North Korean and loony votes.
Paulsen - yep, still dead.
Travolta - the alien overlord vote; no Scientology votes unless Trump converts.
Fieri - the greasy spoon vote.
Hahaha Mini-me! He just needs the pinky-ring! (I always knew the Donald was secretly bald.)

I don’t think anyones who is overly concerned about marital fidelity is going to be voting for Trump regardless of who the other name on the ticket is.

I won’t be Gingrich, he hasn’t been relevant for at least a wife or two. It won’t be Ernst, Trump already has the ignorant hayseed teabagger vote locked up. Thune might lock up the vote of people that like politicians that look like undertakers and those who fear that South Dakota is about to turn blue. Rick Scott would balance the ticket in terms of hair vs no hair, and if Trump wants to eliminate Medicare fraud he’d have someone with experience in this regard.

I still have to go with Christie, on the condition that his wife wear sunglasses to hide her eye rolls.

I would have said Christie…if Trump hadn’t so utterly emasculated him already on live national television. Christie might still be attorney general, though, and that would give Trump’s campaign some much-needed credibility in terms of bringing on competent people in an administration. The interesting part is whether or not he would be confirmed. A lot of republicans (Rubio in particular) haven’t forgiven Christie for throwing his weight (pun kinda, sorta intended) behind Trump at a moment when Trump’s future viability was still somewhat in question. I could see Little Marco and Lyin Ted filibustering their former nemesis just for shyts and giggles.

I don’t think you can rule anyone in or out, if only because a) Trump is unpredictable, and b) his choices are likely to be limited. YOu can say he won’t pick Gingrich or Ernst, but what if everyone better says no? Basically, anyone who might say yes and would be compatible with Trump on the ticket is a possibility.

I think it’ll be Gingrich. Someone who might help the ticket, though I doubt would be interested: Condoleeza Rice.

Oh please let it be Jan Brewer. Maybe she will have another deer-in-the-headlights moment like this.
