If Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Jesus of Nazareth are a like in many ways. They were both born with a destiny to save the world and with supernatural powers. They both died to save the world. They both came back from the dead. They both had a small group of followers. They were both persecuted by local politicians. They both are fictional.
If the two of them decided to fight each other who would win?
Jesus has the advantage of being God, but Glory was also a god and Buffy kicked her arse. Although she had Willow doing magic to help her at the time. Also Jesus has less experience with fighting.
For all those reason I’m gonna say Buffy would win.
Jesus chose to be non-violent and sacrfice himself to redeem mankind. However, IIRC he did say to his disciples that if he did choose to be violent he would have twelve legions of angels by his side, which I think would be more than even Buffy could handle. Also, while it’s hard to get a clear sense of what Jesus’ powers were from the Bible, I’d bet they’d be pretty bad ass, probably more powerful than Willow at her most powerful. And South Park showed him killing Bill Donohoe (sp?) with the Glaive weapon from Krull.
Are we talking strictly canonical Jesus or can we use the Expanded Universe? Because, in the extra-Biblical Infancy Gospel of Thomas, Jesus kills a child simply by willing it so.
I don’t care how many cheerleader-ninja-slayer moves you have. You’re not going to move faster than someone willing you dead.
Buffy totally kicks demon ass any time she likes. On the other hand Jesus made a whole legion of demons chuck in the towel all at once, just by telling them to clear off. And that’s just pre-Crucifixion Jesus. The resurrected Jesus could appear in a locked room, solid body and all, and disappear from view on the road to Emmaus. No way some slick martial arts moves stacks up against that. Then, if you take John 1:1 - 11 as Gospel :), Jesus is the incarnation of the very Word that created the Universe. That’s a step or two up from a god and strongly implies that He can cause reality to be whatever he feels like at any given time. Bad news for Buffy if that means Jesus thinks it would be better for everyone if she were a normal cute 17-year-old with no Slayer attributes at all. Also, He has perfect foreknowledge of everything she is going to do. The fight’s over before Buffy even knows it’s on.
As I understand the backplot, Jesus hasn’t so much as touched a woman in about 2000 years. All Buffy has to do is use a few of her old cheerleader moves on him (which she learned before she switched hobbies into nosferatucide) and Jesus will become her boytoy in no time flat.
Yeah, but He came back all by Himself. Buffy needed Zander the first time she came back and the entire Scooby Squad the second time. No contest - bet on the Galilean.
I’m seeing a fight to a draw in Act I, followed by a most awesome teamup against the Big Bad for the finale. After All, JC is the original vampire hunter.
I would say Jesus, except I pretty sure that just as Jesus is about to land the final blow, very conveniently, Spike or Angel will show up and save Buffy just in the nick of time and turn the tide of the fight.
