I like that Dexter’s not responding sexually to his sponsor, but I wonder how realistic that is, even for a man without “normal” feelings. I don’t mean to imply that all guys are horn dogs, but she’s gorgeous and she’s connecting with Dex. What’s up with him? Or are all his feelings being directed to the possibility of a personal/intellectual connection? He’s so excited by that, he’s sublimating the other?
I liked Deb tonight. She does put her foot in it, doesn’t she? I can’t imagine telling any of my bosses that I “got laid”. Cute.
I think Dexter’s sponsor is annoying as hell and Rita, without any of the proof that the viewer has, is correct in thinking she’s a threat to their relationship. She took her shirt off, no bra, with him in the room. Who does that unless they’re trying to titillate (sorry about the pun)? And two kisses on the lips? Give me a break. That’s going nowhere good.
LaGuerta is a scary bitch, though Esme played right into her hands, completely.
Deb is also pretty scary, but because she’s so idiotic. Who tells their boss “last night I got laid bigtime”? Also, really, they do seem to be building chemistry between Deb and Lundy, though Deb is shown pursuing cute gym guy.
Speaking of getting laid bigtime, Doakes needs to. That guy is wrapped a bit too tight.

Interesting as well to see Harry coaching Dexter on how to dodge the shrink’s questions. That brings around last season’s argument about whether or not Dexter really is a born serial killer. Could he have been ‘fixed’?
i think he could have been fixed for sure. he was found at 3. he should have had a really good child psych. working with him.
lest we forget dex has “sex issues”. before rita he didn’t care much about it and scared off anyone he had sex with. he was very happy rita didn’t want sex. he was also very surprized she still wanted to be near him after they did.
i do believe sponser will have trouble tumbling dex.

No. He got the guy, two clean shots, very close together, middle of the chest. Kinda stupid of the guy to agree to meet with anyone. Why didn’t he just take off for Cuba? He wanted a Ranger buddy?
Another nitpick – with all the talk about the heat, no one was dressed for it, except the sponsor. Dark clothes, heavy fabric. Does Rita’s house have A/C? Close the blinds, for pete’s sake, the sun was blinding, coming through that kitchen window.
Not a nitpick but a complaint – Rita’s mom – another unsympathetic mother for the daughter to blame all her problems on.
I like that the guy from Oz went to Mrs. Sota’s house and apologized, because he was way unprofessional and amateurish in that interview. “You’re going to tell me your husband’s dark secrets!” Who trained him – Blackwater?
Rubystreak, yeah, she’s definitely coming on to Dexter. Can’t help but wonder how it’ll turn out.
So how cool was that – Rita’s mom making the Butcher Boy costume for the kid? It sure seemed to work. I wonder if Dex wishes that his dad would have made him a Jason mask instead of training him on how to get away with murder.
I didn’t. As soon as Lt. Freakout started screaming about how the shirt smelled like another woman it was obvious what was going on.
No squeals, but I did have a sinking feeling that psycho-boy will start giving LaGuerta a hard time.
Well, unlike the last time, we (the viewers) know for sure it was clean.
Any speculation how Dex is going to beat the algae on the rocks?
The algae will be ‘inconclusive’ or atleast point to several marinas - Dex having a boat is not an ‘unknown’ to others (one would think) - that or Dex was smart enough not to pull rocks from ‘his’ marina.
Now, if he has rocks on his boat or that bag he used to gather them - that could be an issue.
I will admit that I liked the look on Dexter’s face when he found out about the rocks stored seperately - Otherwise - it won’t be the algea that gets him, it would be someone ‘tampering’ with evidence as it gets found out (Masuka has big idea, big idea almost gets thwarted) that will tighten the noose.
All right, this pretty well conclusively proves that Harry Morgan was a terrible parent.
I love Deb’s idea of baby steps. Nail some more-or-less random guy at the gym, but cuff him to the bed so he can’t kill her during sex. Absolute genius. It also makes sense that she would pop off about getting laid to FBI guy because that’s the culture of the department (she announced sleeping with Rudy last season) and she has no reason to think he wouldn’t be into that culture. It does look like they’re moving a little bit of a triangle into place with Deb, FBI and gym guy. Or maybe in anticipation of a season 3 they’re positioning Deb to move to the FBI and she’ll bring Dexter along with her.
Angel may be my favorite non-Dexter character (I’ve played online poker with the actor a couple of times and he seems like a good guy). I think his interview was a deliberate two-part scheme. He tried to get the widow to give up the husband under normal questioning then decided to do a one-man good cop/bad cop routine.
Except that Maria will “take care of it”. I gotta say I didn’t give her enough credit. Wow.
I’m not sure that Angel’s actions were intentional - but it certainly worked out for him. He is also my ‘favorite non-Dexter’ charactor - and the most likely to figure out Dex’s secret.
Still catching up on previous episodes. Can you give a quick outline of the prior shooting?
IIRC, Doakes and Angel were getting ready to question some suspects when they ran. Doakes ran under a pier after them out of Angel’s eyesight, when a shot (maybe two) rang out.
Close - Doake’s recognized an older gentleman on a bridge (he was walking carrying groceries) - Doake’s shouted to the gentleman - who takes off running - Doakes pursues on foot - angel turns car around to also follow- Doakes and suspect run under the bridge - two shots.
Doake’s called it self defense - but all recollections by Angel and blood evidence (Dexter) pointed the other way. It was an ‘execution’ by Doakes of someone from his Army ‘Special Ops’ missions - very bad guy that got away.
Was subsequently ‘covered up’ by the PTB.

I agree. The quirky free-spirit hot chick who is perceptive to the point of verging on psychic is an overdone meme. I didn’t like Dharma or Lady Heather, either. I’d be perfectly fine with Dex not only not showing sexual interest, but it never even occurring to him to show sexual interest.
