Whoohoo! I got a great job, and other news.

I’m still delivering papers, but making ends meet is really hard, so I’ve been looking for something part-time. I worked as a temp for a couple of weeks, but realized that delivering papers from 3-6a.m. and then going to the office from 9-3 just wasn’t cutting it–I’m just not organized enough or Superwoman enough to work that kind of schedule and still keep things together at home.
However! As a part of the temp job, I sometimes drove a food delivery route for one of the small businesses run through the battered women’s shelter. The “sometimes” became a “temporary” when the office temp job ran out, so I did it for several days last week. THEN, the kitchen boss pulled me aside and asked me to do it permanently!

This is perfect: It takes 2.5-3 hours/day, pays $10/hour, and pays mileage for the 70 mile trip. That means I can be home by noon every day, and the babies will be in day care only for a couple of hours each morning.

I’m crossing my fingers that it will indeed be a long-lasting position, and that I can maintain my van until I can save the money for a downpayment on another one (hopefully it will last until tax time).

Things are coming together, I think. We’re reaching some decisions on the house, and I got a justice grant that will pay for my divorce–a VERY good thing, because I just didn’t have the money to even file. I’m hoping to file by the end of September, so maybe it will be final by the new year.

I’m too tired to do a happy dance, but I think I will have some ice cream and maybe go to bed early to celebrate…

Best,
karol
