phall0106 mentions over here that shopping is done! I have only baking to do but otherwise I’m all set. I did some shopping on-line and bought a couple of items at shops in Troy, NY, at the holiday stroll.
Who else can dance the happy dance of being done and anticipating others’ glee?
We’ve been finished for a couple weeks (Thank goodness, since we had some medical issues involving multiple visits to multiple hospitals that takes up most of my time).
We started in the beginning of November, and were done in about a week and a half of online ordering. The only thing we had left to get was a present for my father, which we found at Target about 2 weeks ago. It is amazing because I am always a last-minute guy, but this year it feels great to be finished so early. Now, if I could just remember to send out the darn Christmas cards…
My silly former boss gave out that “spelling study” where everything is spelled wrong but you can still read it. Just to excuse his own bad spelling :smack:
Don’t worry, Quasi, you are smart. ::reassuring pat
I am >< this close to being done…just a couple more obligatory tokens for co-workers, and stocking stuffers for the kids. This year for the first time ever, I did it all online! It wasn’t easy, and it cost more than I’d like to have spent, but now I’m just sitting back watching the stuff be delivered. Heaven!
Did it online in about two hours last night in between sipping coffee and chatting to folks. It should all be delivered to the appropriate house at the beginning of next week.
There was some doubt as to whether I would be able to visit my parents at Christmas due to work committments so I just ordered from one store and decided to send everybodies gifts up in advance. That way they still get their gifts if I don’t turn up and if I do then I don’t have to cart it all with me.
I’m pretty much done with mine. I’m still keeping my eye out for stuff my mom might like, though, because she’s hard to shop for and Dad’s clueless, so I have to continue sending him ideas.
Haven’t even started yet! My philosophy is that if you don’t think about something, it might go away. Unfortunately, everywhere I turn, there are kick-in-the-shins reminders that Xmas is still here despite my best efforts to kill it.
I also feel like with all the early build-up, the actual day becomes an afterthought. Which is fine with me, since quiet reflection and a few wonderful carols are all I need.
For the first time ever, I finished shopping 3 weeks early. I was done shopping and wrapping by 12/3 and my baking was done this weekend. We have a baby now, so we wanted to get an early start. I did the mall shopping and my husband did the internet shopping. We both did the wrapping. I did the baking (I hate it, but I like being Supermom).
In another unprecedented event, my mother called me this weekend to say she was done and wrapped. She’s NEVER done before 12/24.
gigi, What shops did you go to in Troy? Even when I lived there, I never went downtown. Now that we’re in Nassau, I’m even less likely to shop there. I heard that downtown is much better since the current mayor took office.
There were a bunch of little art galleries with reasonable stuff. I got a handpainted pin shhh for my friend who cooks Xmas dinner. There’s also a bookstore there Market Block Books which I was happy to see was full of folks. Also a lot of small antique stores, and there was small museum store. It was fun but I imagine it is a lot more sparsely attended when it’s not Stroll day!
