Who's Down With The Cash Cab?

Me and my wife love this show. I think it is on Discovery Chanel, all though I may be mistaken. I generally am very good at answering the question with my wife frequently saying, “Why would you know that?”. I love tthe expressiosn when the lights go off in the cab. I get amazed at how many times people go out without using up both their shout outs. Then there are the contestants who just annoy, the prime candidate generally being the woman who like to scream after after every correct answer. HATE. What’s funny is that, IMO, I the video bonus question at the end is rarely harder than the other questions, but the contestants wouldn’t know that.

I’ve watched the show whenever I’m channel surfing and it’s on, which isn’t frequently anymore (the surfing that is…) It’s cool, trivia but not over the top and I usually do quite well.

I am down with the Cash Cab, when I’m watching tv. Unfortunately, not a lot of time for that lately.

I love this show!

My husband and I get to go to New York maybe once a year for his job…we have vowed to hunt for that cab!

It’s strangely addicting. It almost makes me want to go to New York City, almost.

It’s entertaining. I wonder if the driver ever just picks someone up, drives them to their destination and collects a fare. I doubt it, but he’s GOT to pick up slobbering drunks or something at some point. Perhaps he’s just very careful.

I get annoyed when people have a good hunch as to the answer and still waste a shout-out, only to validate their own answer. It’s not like they’re in the hotseat on Millionaire. You get three strikes.

Here’s a plan: go to New York, find the cash cab, but don’t get in. Instead, follow it around and mug the people who get out. Free moneys!

I love this show. When I go to New York, I am totally hunting it down. However, I’m not too familiar with Manhattan geography. Where does the Cash Cab usually hang around?

The questions are usually pretty easy, but I’ll admit to being stumped a few times. I’ve only ever gotten one video bonus wrong - the challenge in the bonus seems to be the all-or-nothing risk-taking, not the actual question.

One Saturday morning a few weeks ago, I caught a marathon on the Discovery Times channel. I’m hoping they’ll do that again in the near future.

Link please?

The questions do tend to be easy on the whole, but every once in a while there’s one that just comes completely out of left field.

Great show, though. I think it’s a shame not more people take the video bonus question. Win or lose, you’ve still got a free cab ride, so you’re gonna come out ahead anyway. Why not take the chance?

I agree the questions tend to be easy, but they are not ridiculously so.

Cash Cab is excellent. NEVER seen anyone take the video round, though. Are they any hard? Examples?

Good god, does anyone watch this in the US? When does it come on? I watch the DC a bunch, NEVER has seen it, come on during the day or something?

My 11 year old LOVES this show and she got me hooked on it. I wonder how many people tell the driver no when he asks them if they’d like to play? I have seen a couple of episodes when “the man on the street” refused to try and help the contestants when they asked for help though.

Someone asked where it hangs out. If you notice, at the beginning of each ride it shows you the route. It is always in Manhattan, so don’t look in the outer boroughs. Also, I don’t think I can recall seeing it go up much past, say, 100th St.

I’ve always wondered where the cameraman is. I figure in the cab it’s a couple of static cameras, but when the contestents leave the cab, you always see a shot of them outside of it.

I guess there’s another vehicle that carries him and the contestents have to wait until they get in place before they can leave.

Also, I read on IMDB that the contestents don’t actually keep the cash. They’re sent a check later on.

I’ve seen 'em take the video bonus questions (we love this show) and out of maybe five (?) I’ve seen, I got the answer to four (as did the contestants). What does that tell you? That they’re KINDA easy - cause I’m pretty much an idiot.

I saw that the host of the show was on the view the other day and the girls from the view were on the show! it was really cute! the host actually just had a baby!

I like watching this show when I happen to catch it on. What I’d like to know is, does the driver have to memorize all the questions and answers ahead of time, as he has to recite this information while driving, or does he get some kind of prompting?
