Good race! The Ferrari is quick, and Kimi and Massa both drove them well. It seems the British media is pretty keen on this Lewis chap.
I hate to bait the people who think motor racing is all about hoping for crashes, but DC certainly earned the Superman cape he donned at Monaco last year. That shunt could have been very, very bad for Wurz; apparently DC’s car was about 15 cm from his head.
I too had high hopes when Speed joined F1, I hope he can get it together.
In other news, the Honda’s livery looks ugly on the grid, but utterly hideous at speed. Also, Marlboro’s marketing folks must know what they are doing, but I can’t see their non-logo making people want to buy smokes.
-and people should probably go to an F1 race before they claim no interest, especially if they have an interest in other forms. I hate Nascar, but went to Daytona when I had a chance, and it was ok (Indy and the USGP were better though). I absolutely cannot wait for the official MotoGP at Indy announcement(anyone heard anything about when?)
Dude, give it a rest and go start a damn WRC thread already.
If you want to debate whether or not the OP invited negative responses, take it to the Pit. I already tried to let the derailment go, but you keep coming back to it.
No one cares that you don’t like F1. The people in this thread DO like it. Either be a nice guy and let us have our F1 discussion or be a dick and take it to the Pit.
Now, back to the race discussion:
Did anyone else watch qualifying? The Speed guys mentioned that the joke around the paddock was that Honda was doing their part for the environment by not running a car past the first knockout round.
I’m really excited about the competition this year. Ferrari is crazy fast, but their new gearbox is delicate and fragile. McLaren looks fast and they have two great drivers (go Rookie!). And BMW is in the mix. I would love to see Kubica win a race.
Did anyone figure out when each team put on the soft tires? I haven’t watched/read anything since the race, and I know they were having fits trying to see those stupid dots on the tires.
The phrase “who’s fired up about Formula 1 kicking off this weekend?” doesn’t require any negative responses. It is specifically asking who IS fired up, not who ISN’T.
To the OP, I’m hoping that McLaren put in a competitve season. They’ve had a very good start.
Im just going from memory, so I think only Hiedfeld started on the soft tyres and was first to pit and put on the fast tyres. There may have been other cars satrting soft but they were further down the grid and did’nt get a mention.
The rest of the front runners went to soft tyres in the 2nd pit stop, with about 7-12 laps remaining (I think). DC said before the race that he expects this to be the trend for the season. Most teams runnning a long middle stint and going for the slower tyres for as short tie as possible at the end of the race.
