Title says it, tell me your story
I’m not sure if this counts, but I’ve been posting at www.3fatchicks.com for almost 7 years. I think the online support has helped me maintain my 70lb weight loss during that time.
I lost about 35lb with weight watchers (about 20% of my body weight), but for me that was less about the support group and more about their method and having a structured way to do it, I think. That said, getting started it was really good to have people around me who were trying to do the same thing, and who didn’t say stupid things like “oh there’s nothing wrong with you, you don’t need to lose weight”. It was also good to be able to share mistakes, what we did wrong so we could help each other.
Sadly nothing is going to replace will power and hard work in these sorts of endeavours.
I am currently doing Weight Watchers Online, but I no longer post on their forums, which I initially thought would be my support group. I just find there is so much misinformation spouted as fact, and a lot of txt speak, bad grammar and spelling, etc. (Of course, now that I’ve typed that, I’d like to point out that any spelling/grammatical errors in this post are purely intentional. Yes.)
