Who's on your LJ friends list that isn't really your friend?

Friends list: People whose journals you read[/sub]

This isn’t really as soul-searching as it might seem from the title. I just couldn’t figure out a good way to phrase the question. I mean people who you read mainly because you like what they write, not that you know personally as a friend. Maybe they’re “famous” or maybe they just post interesting stuff. Who knows. Just that you would also read their blog if it wasn’t on LJ.

To start this off, I have:

jwz - who owns a SF nightclub, and is a complete ass
elysesewell - who was on America’s Top Model
extempore - Paul Phillips, a professional poker player
bramcohen - the guy who came up with BitTorrent

I’d go through my list and say, “I have no idea who __, __, or __ are,” but they’re probably all Dopers. :smack:

I have feeds for Alton Brown and Wil Wheaton, but that’s probably not exactly what you mean.

shmivejournal isn’t really a celebrity per se, but he is responsible for Rock, Paper, Saddam.

For me it’s elysesewell and scottage_cheese. That’s it.

The only one I have on my friends list that fits that description is also on your list: extempore.

I follow Neil Gaiman’s blog, and feeds from Snopes, Penny Arcade, Sinfest, and Spamusement.

About half of my friends list (excluding RSS feeds) are people that I don’t really talk to or have a personal relationship with. They just post interesting things - I’d like to become friends with them, but many disable posts not from friends or simply have such a large amount of people friending them that they don’t have time for strangers.
