Who's That Drivin' in the Car, Car, Car?

I have a fragment of a tune going through my head, so I issue the traditional plea for help identifying it.

The lyric I have is something like “driving in the [or my] car, car, car” with car repeated three times. That line itself is repeated several times. It’s not a children’s song, though it has the flavor of one. For some reason I associate a Python with it, maybe a tune from an album that wasn’t on the show.

It’s not “Driving in the Car” by Madness or by Tah Geggy (Geggy Tah?), which pop up in Google.

Anyone?

I trust it’s not Woody Guthrie’s “Car Car”?

Is it Woody Guthrie?

Youtube link

Great song by Guthrie, but not it.

The triple repetition of car in mine is what makes the song.

I’m thinking either Gary Numan - Cars or Jim Crow - Hot Wheels where they sampled Gary Numan’s Cars.

Cold. Very cold.

Peter, Paul and Mary, “Car-Car”

Can’t find it on youtube, obscure.

Could it be Martha Wainwright’s The Car Song?

Drivin in your car… .you turn on the radio… you pullin me close…

Driving Lesson” by Garbage?

Marvin Pontiac aka John Lurie - “Small Car”?

I believe that you are thinking of a stand up comedy routine where the guy does Elmer Fudd but as if he were singing Heavy Metal. I can’t remember the guys name, but I do recall that I saw him on (I think) Showtime in the late 80s and if memory serves he was a bit of a prop comic.

I can’t help you with the song you’re looking for, but the band is Geggy Tah, not the reverse. They got their name from their younger sisters inabilities to say their names as toddlers.

Never heard it before, but I like that song.

Actually, I never heard of any of the songs suggested. All I had to go by was Google.

This could explain why I can’t find it as a song. And will continue to drive me crazy. :smack:

That sounds like Mark McCollum, who did “Kill the Wabbit” as Ozzy Fudd. But there’s no “car car car” in that song. http://www.themadmusicarchive.com/song_details.aspx?SongID=431

So we may be thinking of different comics.

Total shot in the dark since the lyrics are off, but:

-Not a children’s song but sounds like one

Randy Newman - Short People

"…they got little cars going beep, beep, beep…

“Let’s all go to the Zoo” (not sure of the actual title) was used in a Monty Python sketch about Hippies living in a man’s body. He was in the Hospital to have them removed. They were singing this song.

Let’s all go to the Zoo, Zoo, Zoo!
(further lines use the same pattern of repeating the last word)
etc. etc
.

This it?

Edit: I have the MP box set and time to kill. I’ll do some further research…
