And others may prefer the term “skinny.” But neither is voluptuous.
Only her boobs are big. The rest of her is tiny.
I love Lynda, she was my first ever girlfriend (never came to anything I was 6 she was 26 - guess the age gap was too much). But not sure I would define her as voluptuous.
She is Mexican-Irish American and as an Irishman myself I think the rear was unfortunately a bit too Irish…
Now if I was defining statuesque…
Agree if describing voluptuous in the UK might use Nigella. But again Christina Hendricks was the first person I thought of too…
I think the list should include Beyoncé – recently named by GQ magazine as one of the Sexiest Women of the Century (not the sexiest, as Time seems to misapprehend).
Mimi Rogers.
I think some of the women mentioned are more buxom than voluptuous.
I guess we can add Jessica Simpson to the list now.

This…
Should we go for a second poll that drops the top ones from this poll (Hendricks, Hayek, Monroe, Loren) and adds in the ones who got mentioned here? I can understand the poor showing for Angelina, but Anita Ekberg was so much an eyeful in her glory days.
Who are some more recent women who ought to be considered?
If your point is that she is not quite fat enough in a Rubenesque sense to qualify I think you are holding onto the dictionary definition a little too strictly. She is more than hippy and chesty enoughto be considered “voluptuous” in a modern sense.
Y’know, for a thread that’s largely about how voluptuous Christina Hendricks is, there are distressingly few links to her. Let’s remedy that, shall we?
Damn you, beat me to it.
I’m a woman who doesn’t normally think of whether or not a woman is voluptuous.
But I know of most of the women on the list and I voted for Salma Hayek. Ever since I saw her dance in From Dusk til Dawn, I’ve thought “OMG, that was sexy”. Well, until she turned anyway!
You, and several others, need to learn a new word
As is often the case, Yiddish has just the right term for what you’re describing - ‘ZAFTIG’.
Oh, and by the way, why is Christina Aguilera not on the list?
I’m familiar with the term. I’d say zaftig is a bit heavier than voluptuous, as is rubenesque. Notice that the definition includes the word “plump”; I don’t think a voluptuous woman is necessarily plump (not that there’s anything wrong with that). The point above was that it’s not just, or even primarily, a matter of chest; it’s her whole figure.
I took the list from Post #21 and updated it through Post #55 with counts for the ones mentioned more than once:
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Nigella Lawson 6
Anna Nicole Smith 3
Ashley Graham 3
Jennifer Coolidge 2
Jessica Rabbit 2
Kim Kardashian
Sofia Vergara
Dolly Parton
Elvira
Dita von Teese
Scarlett Johansson
Ursula Andress
Kat Dennings
Mae West
Adele
Gina Torres
Lynda Carter
Pam Grier
Kate Winslet
Kate Upton
Rosario Dawson
Beyoncé
Mimi Rogers
Jessica Simpson
Christina Aguilera
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
And if I’m counting correctly that’s 38 individuals so far. Who should be added to this list?
I’ve always thought Virginia Madsen is voluptuous.
She looks really lovely in that picture.
But Hendricks gets my vote as the very idea of the word. And I know from voluptuous having worn a bra since sixth grade and not by choice either.
This photo of Miss Hendricks and a model wearing the same dress should be the dictionary definition of “voluptuous”. Hendricks’ breasts are larger and she has far curvier hips than the model. She clearly weighs more, but no sensible person would call her “fat”.
Here’s another great defining photo.
And wow, just wow.
I don’t know her name, but the black women who did a number of the “cold opens” on the Craig Ferguson show pretty well defines voluptuous to me.
Nitpick: Ms. Hendricks is wearing the dress. The model in the picture next to her is not wearing the dress, she simply has the dress draped over her.
