The correct answer is D, for “Dang I wish I was as cool as that dude.”

I’d say most of the dudes in the military. Landing a plane in those conditions would garner my utmost respect. Under fire, even more so.

P.S. George Clooney got punked by Fabio.

Of those four, it’s Sully in a walk… er, a flight.

Sully is real life cool. The others are on stage cool.

There is a HUGE difference.

Chesley B. Sullenberger III is the coolest guy in nearly any room. It triples his coolness that he doesn’t consider himself heroic.

“Can’t do it… We’re going to be in the Hudson.”

Wow. If you were listening to that without knowing the circumstances behind it and how serious they were, you wouldn’t even be able to tell that it was an emergency based on tone of voice at all.

Yep. The air traffic controllers had the slightest touch of  in their voices (not that I blame them, I would too), but not the captain.

Haven’t heard a recording of them but I’d expect to hear them only slightly cooler than the professional national TV anchors covering 9/11 and audibly losing their cool as well.

Not to rain on Sully’s parade or anything- and certainly not to take anything away from his amazing feat- but I heard on the radio this morning that at the point the takeoff became an emergency situation, protocol was for the co-pilot to take over the radio and the captain to fly the plane. So while I can’t click the link here at work, I suspect it’s the same recording they played on air this morning, and it’s the co-pilot’s voice, not Sully’s.

Serious question: Who made the decision?

Regardless, I imagine the other guy in the cockpit wasn’t freaking out, seeing as how well he performed and all.
