Indeed he is. After watching The Hobbit, I was told I should watch the BBC miniseries North & South, and I am very glad I did. It’s not just his looks, it’s his voice that drives me crazy in the best way.

I don’t fancy any of them, but I thought that the moviemakers were trying a little too hard to make Thorin look studly, at the expense of making him look dwarvish.

I thought that was the case with Fili and Kili as well. The more Hollywood-handsome the actor, the less makeup he got slathered with.
Kili is the prettiest, but Thorin is the hottest. Also, when factoring in personality, Thorin is definitely hottest.

I suspect there’s another reason (and I think this was mentioned in the thread on the movie…)
The three “hot / human” looking dwarves – Thorin, Kili, and Fili – are the ones who die in the Battle of Five Armies. Making them look the most human of the dwarves may be a conscious intent to make the viewer empathize more with those characters, and thus, feel more for them when they die.
I almost agree, but Kili smiles more. I gotta go with the smiles.
Didn’t Fili and/or Kili at least get big ears, though?
They did, but Noddy was round there like a shot. He’s surprisingly dangerous to cross when he’s pissed.
