I’d blame people who could vote but chose not two for one of two reasons:
Effect: We know this is a BS statement pushes out by people who’ve been completely fazed by American politics. People thought the same in 2016. Need I remind anyone of the utter crap we witnessed over the next 4 years thereafter, or how the Orange Pimple wants to enact the same measures he did which including gutting pandemic preparedness, again. COVID variants are still around but they’re not dangerous due to vaccinations and better care. It was still hell during the rollout. Let’s not forget dumptruck wanted to leave Ukraine out to dry.
Effect: Give me an f’ing break. You think Trump would be better in this war? He’d give Israel the greenlight to do far worse. Age? They’re both old. Older politicians have more traction than younger. That’s a sad fact. We should feel great we have a non-white VP who happens to be a woman. We could have had a gay president. Maybe next time, Pete.
Any Democrat or Independent who doesn’t have a self-awareness of the utter shit the 4 years under Trump was needs to vote for Biden unless they want a second lesson on how bad a Republican presidency would be, again. People think Trump is the worst, but there’s equally dumb and worse throughout that god forsaken party.
These guys:
You’re not required to care about that shit. You obviously seem to care a lot about how Biden talks, want him to “earn” your vote or whatever. I could give a rat’s ass. It wasn’t necessary for the first 150 years of this country because we had no communication that allowed for it. So they just made decisions and passed laws. That is what matters. Especially compared to Trump. Trump doesn’t even have the “wanna have a beer with him” quality as you admit. Yet Biden’s policies aren’t enough for you, his desire to continue democracy isn’t enough for you, he has to bow and scrape further to earn your vote.
I don’t spend a lot of time watching videos of any pol. As I said elsewhere, Trump wore people down, his very presence in the office was tiring. I love that Biden’s boring.
We aren’t saying that you alone are to blame if Biden loses, but if your vote is one of and say, 72,000 people, who had similar motivation and chose to vote third party is enough to sink Biden, by certain calculation you might share as much as 1/72,000 of the credit for the Trump presidency.
But I don’t see why this would bother you. In fact you should be happy, desite rather slim odds, your vote served its function to change the election in the most powerful way possible you helped change the world. If you are not happy with the way the world changed, then probably you should not have contributed to it.
“If it came down to Trump and Joe Biden, I will vote for Trump. Because it doesn’t get worse than Joe Biden,” a man named Salah told me. His friend, Amad, added, “Biden was supposed to be the peacemaker. The comfort-maker. Instead, he became accessory to the biggest genocide in modern history.”
To which Trump says ‘Hold my beer!’
He {Amer Zahr, a Palestinian American comedian and Dearborn local} noted with obvious disdain how Biden clumsily waved off dwindling support among Arab Americans, suggesting they will eventually be forced to rally behind him or otherwise risk helping Trump. “The former president wants to put a ban on Arabs coming into the country,” Biden had said. “We’ll make sure—we understand who cares about the Arab population.”
“Imagine thinking it’s a good argument to say to a community that has lost 30,000 people, ‘Watch out for the guy that’s going to ban you.’ You’re really asking me whether I’m going to take a ban or a genocide? I’ll take a ban,” Zahr told me.
“We’ve already cost the Democrats the White House. We know how to do it, OK? And we have a chance to do it this time around. And that’s all I’m interested in,” Zahr said, in reference to Hillary Clinton’s 2016 defeat to Trump. If punishing Biden means helping Trump win the next election, Zahr says, he can live with that.
“If Trump were president right now, this war might’ve been over, because there might have been enough uproar from rank-and-file Democrats,” he said. “I think we have a lot of power in not being wed to a party.”
I don’t know whether to laugh or cry . . . I do know that if Trump greenlights a no holds barred genocide, I hope Zahr gets a window seat of the plane he’s deported on.
Why are you wasting your time on a message board when you could be employing your multimillion dollar talent as a campaign strategist? /s
I reject “poor messaging is to blame” as the root case. It’s the voters. The largely stupid, uninformed, intellectually incurious voters. That’s most of the electorate.
Each citizen has been given a powerful authority—their vote—that (IMO!) creates a duty to make an informed choice, one with a foundation of critical thought and active info-seeking. Not an emotional choice based on whoever had the most catchy sound bites in his ads. If you’re not up to the task, or if you just don’t feel like it, then don’t vote. I don’t need any political ads or speeches, not a one, to make my decision, and I bet that’s true for most of the people on this board.
Yes, I understand how the game must be played. Messaging is critical, not because it should be, but because we’re a nation of dopes. But the fact that an extremely effective president may lose to a sociopath because said president is not as effective a campaigner is testament to the dunderheaded blindness of the electorate overall. We suck.
Oh, I don’t know. Maybe the thread title?
I would say that that’s true in many instances (particularly pre-Trump) but regardless of how unbiased the reporting is, or if one simply watches Trump speak or act, his behaviour is so obviously appalling, vulgar, ignorant and whatever else you want to say, that to vote for him means that the Trump voter must be, to some extent, the same. This can’t be blamed on the media only. If anything, maybe it’s the fault of the education system.
When exactly did Biden brag about how he could get away with murder, and sexual assault for that matter?
That’s your fault. There have been countless news articles about it. A search on whitehouse.gov shows Biden talks about it constantly. Here’s something just from last month:
Because those people are also “I’s”.
Voting ain’t that hard, dude. It’s kind of a privilege. Only get to do it every four years. Really not that hard, it really does seem to matter.
If Trump is elected it is the fault of people who voted for him and people who refused to stop him. Yes, voters are responsible if they vote in a known bad person. Or refuse to turn out. Trump is a known bad person at this point. He has already served and said and done shit that leave without a doubt what kind of person he is. If he’s re-elected, it will only be because of bad people and morons who voted for him and people who make up some shitty excuse not to vote against him.
Had it with this indirection crap. Yeah, you, oh sainted one, you’ll hold your nose and vote for Biden, because he doesn’t meet your cosplaying exemplar of what a president should be. Someone is going to be president for the next four years, that is actual physical reality. And of course it’s not you, it’s unnamed others who are the paragons of virtue by not voting because Biden didn’t come visit them personally and coo in their ear just so.
Voting is so simple that everyone who can easily vote wiill indeed be responsible for the results of this election. It will be the responsibility of the voters. Biden and his team are at least putting work in and trying. Voting actually requires no work at all. Just showing up. It will be the fault of the voters.
Here’s one from a week ago Wednesday:
Here’s April 12:

All right, but apart from the sanitation, medicine, education, wine, public order, irrigation, roads, the fresh water system and public health, what has Biden ever done for us?
Haha! Exactly.
If Trump ends elections they’re just going to remember Trump as dictator. I don’t recall people blaming Von Hindenburg. Yeah, Hitler was elected. I don’t think anyone holds the German people blameless.
I think that despite Biden actually serving public office for decades, running in 2020, actually defeating Trump (which no one else would have been able to do), running again in 2024, that he is somehow the egotistical one is laughable.
Many voters, “observers”, whatever themselves have giant egos and are contributing zero to the process or to this country.
‘Von Hindenburg just didn’t do it for me so I voted third party as a protest but don’t you dare blame me for Hitler’s election!’
How do you come to this conclusion? Aproximately 350 million people didn’t even run. I don’t see evidence that Biden is the one lone human who could have defeated Trump. He’s the one lone human who did, but that’s a different thing. With luck, he’ll be the one who does it twice.
