There will always be random people who blame you no matter what you do. Why even worry about them? If the behavior of strangers on the internet, or famous people who aren’t running for office in any way, influences your vote, then I’ll suggest that your priorities are out of order. Your vote is a tool - I choose to use mine to try and make the country better and reduce overall human suffering. Right now that means voting Democratic, to keep Republicans from further eroding rights of women, people of color, LGBTQ+ folks, and more.
I assume you are talking about Gaza?
Rep. Cory Mills (R-Fla.) is prepping articles of impeachment against President Biden after he warned that the U.S. will stop supplying offensive weapons to Israel if its forces launch an invasion into Rafah. Mills, a first-year lawmaker, unveiled his impeachment resolution Thursday, which charges Biden with abuse of power, and he said he plans to “pursue action” Friday.
Mills, a freshman lawmaker and former arms dealer, argued that Biden’s move amounted to a quid pro quo. “Joe Biden is pressuring Israel, our biggest ally in the Middle East, by pausing their funding that has already been approved in the House, if they don’t stop all operations with Hamas,” Mills told Fox News. “It’s a very clear message, ‘this for that.’”
You’re point is to delay this as long as possible?
So I guess my question is why are you bothering to vote when you really don’t seem to want to have any affect on the election? If your goal was to “send Biden a message” your time could be better spent sitting at home writing him an e-mail rather than casting an anonymous vote with no motivation attached. Was it a vote from a pro Palestinian who was against his support of Israel, or from a pro Israel voter who was upset at his cutting aid, from somone who mistakingly thinks he controls inflation, or someone who doesn’t like old people? Who knows?
I choose to vote because I want to influence the election. I am worried about Trump and so my bit. Will it make a difference given that I live in bright red Maryland? Nope, but taking a page from Kant, I should act the way that I want everyone to act. If everyone decided that somebody else would vote for Biden, Trump wins by a land slide, so why should I stay home and expect others to do my work for me?
It is not you personally that I am worried about it is you and the tens of thousands of people like you who if they all decide that someone else will make sure that Biden wins so I don’t have to, will result in his losing. If you don’t like Biden, then sure maybe he doesn’t deserve your vote, but your country deserves better than Trump so you should vote in your countries best interest.
And why is that a bad reason?
The plan should be to help the people Trump wants to mass deport, if necessary by hiding them. Or, if not quite that bad yet, and practical, fund their legal battles.
Depending on specific actions the Trump administration takes, there may be practical ways to help other victims.
If Trump makes progress in closing down media he considers the enemy of the people and/or putting up the equivalent of the Great Firewall of China, there also could be need to distribute opposition literature. I think Trump couldn’t get quite that far in just four more years, but he may get close.
Here is another idea that might possibly be needed:
Citizens’ Commission to Investigate the FBI
What DSA should not do is hold demonstrations yelling how very, very sure they are of their POV.
Again, getting bullied about making a protest vote? I said maybe if Harris gets a lot of protest votes like mine she will be encouraged to run in 2028. Already said that once and please explain how that is any less valid that your reasons for voting.
Again, the party that complains 24/7 about votes being surpressed and you want to surpress 3rd party votes. The hypocrisy of it that all y’all refuse to acknowledge.
What does Bully mean to you? Trying to be persuasive?
Not just you, but this exchange is getting too personal, everyone please drop it.
Moderating
Who wants to suppress votes? Are you suggesting that trying to change your opinion is suppressing votes?
Is it cool to elaborate on what I specifically said? I’m being critical by both sides here.
Sure, but don’t make it about other posters please.
Hey, ease up. This was is still too personal.
I’m confused, but I have to go right now anyway.
Could the third party voters please let us know which candidate they prefer and what specific policies make him superior to Biden? I hear a lot of “I don’t like Brand X or Brand Y” but nothing about what it is about Brand Z that makes them worthy of a vote.
I think they’ve made it clear they’re not voting “for” a candidate. They’re voting “against” a candidate to send a message that they can’t be forced to vote “for” anyone. The actual politics and policies of the third party are irrelevant.
Summary
I’m not suppressing your vote, nor am I trying to bully you. If you vote the way you want to I’m going to do absolutely nothing to prevent you. How could I? I am just arguing that it is a poor use of your vote. You don’t have to listen or agree any more than you have to listen or agree with any other opnions and analyses that I make on this board.
Drop the questioning of @Saint_Cad already. Get back to non-poster specific posting please.
