Who's watching trump's Address to Congress tonight (3-4-25)?

I’m not sure if I will watch or not. I haven’t been watching or reading trump-related news too much, or very actively participating in the trump threads here lately, because my attitude towards the trump administration is largely shell-shocked, numb bemusement. Yet, at the same time, part of me has a perverse fascination with the surreally awful depths to which the trump administration has already descended in less than 2 months; like watching a train derailment as it’s happening. Curious to see how blatantly bad and ridiculous the lies and self aggrandizing are; how enthusiastically the Repub side applauds the blatant lies and self aggrandizing. Also curious to see how well our new Senator from Michigan Elissa Slotkin handles the rebuttal (hope she does a great job with it :crossed_fingers:).

Unfortunately it’s only Tuesday, a little too early in the week-- I know if I start while watching this, I’ll drink too much and be in bad shape for work tomorrow. Usually in threads of this nature drinking games are proposed-- “drink if trump mentions the border, how much money we’ll make with tariffs, what a terrible President Biden was, blames the current price of eggs on Biden, etc. etc. ad nauseum”. I’ll leave that to someone else, if they feel up to it.

I’d rather eat dog crap.

I’m not watching, I’d only be spitting on my TV screen whenever I see Trump.

I’ll probably watch at least part of it. After all, he is the President of the United States.

No, but I never watched Biden either. Or earlier Trump. Or most of Bush. I think the most I watched was Obama because the man could actually speak. If you’re not getting paid to watch any of these, I don’t know why you should. Get the important bits off a news site later and skip all the petty drama.

That’s fair. I’ve made it a habit to watch a little bit through the Obama, Trump 1, and Biden administrations. I was a big fan when Biden brought back the weekly addresses, too bad it didn’t last.

Not watching it. He will just make a fool of himself, which will only make him looker greater to his MAGA supporters. I’ll probably see some the gaffs and highlights on tomorrow’s TV news programs.

I’m going to watch it with this thread in my hand to debunk Trump’s comments.

Just the sound of his voice nauseates me and pisses me off, not necessarily in that order. I try as much as possible to avoid hearing him speak. Nonetheless, I’m sure I’ll still hear some of whatever he blathers about tonight. There’s no way to avoid it.

I don’t even watch it when I can listen to the speaker without gagging. Definitely not watching that parade of lies spoken by someone who makes me want to put an icepick in my ears.

As I said during his first term, no, he is an empty suit sitting in the President’s chair.

Yes! Her name escapes me but I tried listening to that comedienne who would post videos of her lip-synching Trump recordings and could not stand his voice. Ditto for the air-accordion guys.

We weaker souls are grateful for your willingness to risk the melting of your face and the scrambling of your brain. The team thanks you in advance ('cause you may be in no shape afterwards…).

I’m pretty much committed to fiddling while Rome burns. Why stop now?

Yeah, but you gonna watch it burn, or turn your eyes away, and just go get some bread and catch a circus? That’s what I’m still trying to decide.

For sure. If I have to hear him say “raw” earth again, I’m gonna hurl something at the TV.

I will not be watching. My wife says she wants to watch “just in case something exciting happens.” I told her I would be in another room wearing headphones, to cover up her angry shouting, which I’m sure will be forthcoming.

Heck no…I can’t stand anything about him. I can’t even listen to sound bites on the radio. If something interesting happens, I follow enough foreign news sources that I should be able to get a decent understanding of it.

No way in heck would I watch this anus-lipped shrivel dick and give him any ratings, nor do I want to hear this sonofabitch lie and whine for the next hour and a half.

I’ll find out what bullshit he says through news sites or here

Sarah Cooper. She’s the only way I can listen to his voice. I find her hilarious, but she recently retired the act.

It’s 7:15-ish CST-- I just checked the NYTimes online and there is no mention of the speech on the front page. It would be cool if they didn’t cover it… Is that possible? For important speeches they usually so a running commentary.

Doesn’t start until the top of the next hour.
