Whose Line is it Anyway returns July 16.

Kevin Mchale.

It was pretty good. Not amazing, but I’ll keep watching.

I’ve liked it so far, but a commercial break after every single sketch is a little much. And they really, really, really need to NOT have Aisha Tyler say the “everything’s made up and the points don’t matter” line after every break. We get it. No, really. We all saw it, and you’ve said it six times tonight. WE GET IT!

Colin needs Just For Men.

I enjoyed both episodes. (And the half hour on the bike - thanks for remembering!)
I’d rate tonight as amusing, with a few moments of hilarity. I’ll keep watching.
I like that they have some new games, compared to the old show.

Yeah, oops.

And I agree – it seemed like a very promising start, compared to that show they did a year or two ago where they were trying to make sure it wasn’t “Whose Line” – it also wasn’t funny.

They need to 86 the guest star immediately. It worked once for Simmons, and it will never be close to that good again.

Interesting. The website has that as episode 2. Does that meant the Lauren Conrad one hasn’t aired yet, or did they show two episodes in one night?

And, seeing as they’re titling the shows by the guest star, I doubt that’s going to go away. Sorry, Meeko.

My CW showed two shows last night back to back.

Yup, that was the network schedule.

Two shows back to back here, too. Didn’t quite have the spark of the old show, I thought - and as often as Aisha T. said “the points don’t matter,” she hardly awarded any points at all anyway! I felt bad for the fat guy in the first episode - he sat out most of the show. The filmed-backstage-from-up-above sketch (James Bond, then a poltergeist movie) was OK, but hardly seemed worth the trouble.

I’ll keep tuning in, though.

I just actually watched the episodes.

I totally agree. If it stops then I’ll be happy. I think it’s better to only mention it once at the end of the episode. Folks who’ve seen the show will know the joke and first time peoples with get a laugh at the end after they thought it might be serious. Why ruin it for the new customers?

I thought Kevin McHale and Lauren Cohan were both funny and good for the show. I agree that the Simmons skit can not be topped but you can’t compare “above normal” to “perfection”. I mean you could but it’s kind of a useless metric.

ETA: I enjoyed and laughed at both episodes. To me it felt like good old Whose Line. I’m glad they are back.

When I saw the name of the guest star for the first one, I totally expected someone way, way taller. And Minnesotan. What can I say? I never watch Glee.

If they’re going to have a guest star, have him or her take the fourth chair, be fully involved, and stay throughout the show. It’s silly to have them go offstage and then return.

I agree. They don’t need to put them in every skit but let them sit up with the crew.

+1

I think Aisha’s constant mention of the points not mattering is an “info dump” for people unfamiliar with the 1st 2 incarnations of the show.

I also thought they let some of the topics in “Scenes from a Hat” go too long. I like it when they just get two or three jokes for each scene, and they get to rip through a bunch of scenes. It gives more opportunities for callbacks later in the show, too.

And Laura Hall playing music for the musical bits, too!

Wayne Brady and Ryan Stiles look good. Colin’s gone grey, though, and I was surprised to see how much older that makes him look.

The irony of this should not be lost on us.

It streams on the website.
