I always thought it was an interesting reflection of culture that the British version never mentioned the points were a joke but the American versions felt like they had to constantly.
And oddly, the points themselves seem to be lost, while that “joke” remains. Did Aisha even hand out any points? In the one ep I saw (Lauren Cohan) I don’t recall a single one.
But it was nice to see the “credits in a style” thing back, rather than the “game with me”.
Anyway, it was great to see it back. Hope they keep up the level of quality. I did laugh quite a bit, and I didn’t so much toward the tail end of the last incarnation.
Week two and they have a rerun? WTF?
I think after week one, it’s only going to be one new one and one re-run per week.
I looked at the listing for next week and it said two new.
You are quite right. I have no idea what the setup is, then.
I guess some points DO matter.
I just watched the new episodes from tonight and they were really funny. It was good to see Jonathan Mangus and…wow, Jeff Davis!
Haven’t seen him in awhile, I think. Was he on Drew’s improvaganza?
I missed the first couple weeks because I can’t remember to program a DVR, but I managed to sit down and watch last night. I loved the sideways-room stuff, perhaps because it was something I’d never seen before. I think it will probably get old pretty quick, but I really enjoyed it.
Every time Aisha Tyler opens her mouth, I start to giggle because I hear *Archer *lines in my head. I’m sure I’ll get over it, but it doesn’t really bother me.
Colin and Ryan trying so hard not to be dirty old men with the synchronized swimmers was amusing, but it seemed like they didn’t get a chance there to be really funny because they honestly didn’t know what the hell to do with synchronized swimmers as props.
To me, Aisha doesn’t have the comic timing necessary to be the host. She lets every segment go on just a smidge too long - if it’s funny now, in 15 seconds you might be over it. Better to hit the buzzer leaving the audience wanting more.
Wayne has remained the same age as always, while Colin and Ryan have aged, but they’re still funny.
The “special guest” needs to go. Let’s only do that when it’s really special, otherwise use audience members.
StG
Yes. Davis is by far the funniest person on the post-Whose Line episodes. His interactions with the audience are incredible.
Agreed on all points.
On the special guests..the worst part is that it forces them to use the same games, and you get to see that the improv is often the same set of jokes in a different framework. That’s why we need variety, to keep it fresh.
Living Scenery! Let’s do a joke about carrying a cute girl on someones back as a backpack, and lying down on her as a bed/sled/etc!
Yeah..funny if occasional. Not if it’s in every show.
