I’d take the name Brachyrhynchos, except Crow is a lot easier to spell.

The phrase “Goodbye Cruel World” brings up memories of a single panel comic of a man trying to flush himself down a toilet. A sign nearly would contain those words. I’m sure there were several versions of it but they were all essentially the same. This would have been in the early- or mid-60’s.

I could have sworn that on this board about a year ago someone posted their first and only thread to ask a question. Her username was Original Poster. I fret now that it’s laying dormant and also that I didn’t think of it first.

My favorites are the pun names like Sue Duhnym and Candid Gamera. But El Cid Viscoso is just plain brilliant, and as Google shows, utterly unique on the web.

I’d just be repeating what most people mentioned, but there are so many fun names here.

I’ve even borrowed a couple for my WoW characters: Sampiro & Czarcasm (Warlock & Mage blood elves)
In the same vein, I’ve created a few other toons/avatars: Crossblesser (blood elf priest) & Restosterone (Tauren restoration druid)

But when joining here I had a complete lack of creative drive & just named myself after the random captcha words that came up.

If it makes you feel better, you can think of it as a play on both a Pink Floyd song (Goodbye Cruel World) and the first program most people learn when they start programming [computers] in a new language (Hello World).

For me, I’d think of the former first. Hello Kind World seems like the exact opposite of Goodbye Cruel World.

The phrase “goodbye cruel world” predates the song, but I haven’t been able to dig up its origins. It’s common enough, though, that I assume it’s what HelloKindWorld had in mind. The “Hello world” connection is interesting, though.

It also seems crazily optimistic. I’m guessing HelloKindWorld is a young person. I’d say give it a few years, and then we’ll see a username change to ScrewThisStupidPlace.
