In the last month or two, I have not been able to navigate backwards if more than a few moments have passed. I get a “page expired” message and have to Refresh.
Now it’s worse. This is happening more under Hotmail, when negotiating to a ling within an email ( such as a SDMB notify on a subscribed thread ). I click on the link to visit the thread and am immediately show this:
How the heck could it be idle? I JUST opened up the email telling me to go to the thread via the subscription link!!
Ideas? This is driving me insane. And it isn’t just SDMB notifys, the inability to move forwards and backwards in I.E. overall has stopped working smoothly. I did DL a new IE about a month ago, this did not solve the problem.
Don’t have the answer to the problem, but as has been said here so many times before, ditch IE and run Opera, Mozilla, Firefox or Netscape, or one of the other alternative browsers.
Sounds like two problems - the first being IE going batshit, and the second being Hotmail is a piece of crap. There may be a link, since your damaged IE might be sending the wrong info to the Hotmail server, but I’ve been experiencing this with Hotmail too recently - it only gives me about a minute before it expires the links. I usually copy-and-paste them anyway, since I don’t want to look at my page from within a Hotmail frameset.
No solution to your problem apart from the advice to drop IE like a burning turd biscuit. Anything that can go wrong with that diseased piece of shit will do. I recently went over to Opera and am very happy with it. Alas, I still have to use IE for my job, since if I ignore it I don’t know what stupid trick it will pull on the websites that I design, but other than that I never use it any more.
