Why are Cut, Copy, and Paste unavailable in the Google Sheets edit menu?

If you right click on a cell in Google Sheets, the edit menu appears and shows the Copy, Cut, and Paste options. When you click on one of them, a message comes up that says “these actions are unavailable via the edit menu, but you can still use Ctrl+C, Ctrl+X, and Ctrl+V.”

Why are these options unavailable via the edit menu?

You’d have to ask the person who made that design decision. I don’t know if they happen to be Dopers.

From keyboard shortcuts - In copy/paste, Google Docs says "These actions are unavailable via the Edit menu, but you can still use Ctrl C" etc? - Web Applications Stack Exchange

It sounds like there are issues in giving web apps access to the clipboard in different browsers. They seem to work under chrome, but I take it the OP is not using chrome.

Correct - I’m using Firefox.
