From surfing around different tToyota/Lexus sites, especially message boards, it’s a common complaint. Just about every body shop guy on the boards will chime in to inform newbies the issue has been covered and tell them the short answer is ‘thin paint’, which results in abnormal wear in the following areas:
bumpers and hood
Door sills (paint wears off from getting in/out)
truck gates and beds
Thanks. I had surfed around too, but only saw numerous complaints with nary an explanation.
I wonder how that could be proven? I suppose paint “depth” on a surface could be measured somehow.
If you could demonstrably show that your new, abnormally chipped up 70k Lexus was paint-flawed, you might have a cause for litigation if the dealership or Toyota doesn’t satisfy your genuine complaint.
