Why are my eggs sweating?

(no, this isn’t a fertility joke)

My 8 year old refrigerator stopped refrigerating. Crap. It’s not new enough for a warranty claim, it’s not old enough to buy a new one without guilt…and I really didn’t think it was on its way out. I knew if I called a repairman, it’d be a $350 deal ($100 trip charge, 1 hour minimum labor, some unknown part.) I knew if I bought a new one, it’d be $1200. I really don’t have EITHER amount of money right now.

crap.

Then I found this site. It pretty universally ROCKS. It has info on troubleshooting most home appliances and home computers…for free. (another site wanted $20 per appliance)

Between the online dox and their forum, I’ve got the refrigerator back up and running for $45(*) and a little of my time.

(*- your typicall refrigerator has about 4 minor things that can go wrong. For $45 they make a ‘hard start kit’ that bypasses 3 of those 4 things)

Happy dance, happy dance!

Wow, that is a pretty awesome site you found! Thanks for sharing - that sucker’s going into my bookmarks.

And your eggs are sweating because they are nervous. Duh.

I would also like now to report, that in the few minutes it took between my last post and this one, a couple of quick clicks on that site - my garbage disposal has now been fixed and is working beautifully. It’s been “broken” since we moved in. Yay!

It was the simplest thing I’ve ever done. The landlord was going to call someone in to fix it. I did it for free.

Knowledge is power.

Yeah, because they know they’re going to get whipped and beaten.
Way cool site, Unintentionally Blank!
