Yes, that’s what I said in the post right above yours.
If you look at the UK, you see many cultural similarities: a greater appreciation and prevalence of the hips/big bum/noticeable waist look (which as many have pointed out is just not the same as being morbidly obese), a similar likelihood of being disproportionately poor, descended from slaves etc.
However, the high levels of obesity are found in small, white towns in the North quite frequently. Multicultural areas like the East End do not see the same degree of severe obesity.
So, I’m going to say it’s something to do with the African-American diet or the ghetto experience of the USA, maybe.
