I can understand why Paul McCartney music CDs were out-of-print. They were just stirring interest before the release of a new edition. And the same thing applies to many other musician’s discographies. But there doesn’t appear to be a new edition on the horizon for Van Morrison, so why is his discography OOP?
What do you mean out of print? Amazon has Morrison CDs for sale.
Two reasons: Van owns or controls most of his master recordings (something few artists do), and by all accounts he’s a miserable bastard at times. One of the few old recordings he doesn’t own is “Moondance”, and he badmouthed its rerelease. The third post on this page jibes a lot with what’s been said about Morrison.
Not all of his classic albums are OOP, but some key items from his discography are, including St. Dominic’s Preview, Veedon Fleece, and the live It’s Too Late to Stop Now, all among his greatest albums. Yes, all three are on Amazon, but only from third-party sellers.
