Why aren't women who wear padded bras mercilessly made fun of?

It seems to me that if a guy would wear padded underwear to make his junk seem bigger, and his friends & peers found out, he would be mercilessly made fun of.

Also, as I recall from a few years ago, there was a company selling “the bulge” for men, which was a something men would put in their underwear, to increase their own bulge.

That company and product were made fun of, and I don’t think they ever advertised on national TV. (As opposed to the tons of padded-bra commercials on TV)

Why do you think society is more accepting of women who pad their bras and of companies who make such products?

If only a loser would buy “the bulge”, why is it not the case that only a loser would buy a padded bra?

There are tons of padded-bra commercials on TV? I’m not sure I’ve ever seen one. Maybe I’m watching the wrong channels.

Yes but women are delicate flowers and it’s not as socially acceptable to make fun of them (for any reason) as it is to make fun of men.

Skammer, pretty much every Victoria’s Secret commercial is an ad for a padded bra. They don’t use the term padded, of course, but anything listed as a “push-up” or “cleavage-enhancing” bra is pretty heavily padded. It’s just that the pads are all down in the bottom of the cup instead of spread evenly over the breast.

As for the OP, I’d say the major difference is that women tend not to look at a guy’s crotch when judging his sexual attractiveness–either we don’t care about the size of your dick, or we’re pragmatic enough to know that size when flaccid has little or nothing to do with size when erect. So if you’re stuffing your pants, you’re doing it for yourself, or to impress other men. Men, otoh, do look at a woman’s boobs when judging her sexual attractiveness. So a padded bra could be for yourself or for other women, but it’s equally likely to be for guys.

Um, because that won’t get you laid?

We don’t make fun of them because we’re too busy staring.

Because women are different from men. Women put on makeup and wear high heels too. Both the makeup and heels make them look different or better and they’re both things men can’t get away with.

The look that a padded bra achieves is more widely accepted and considered desireable than the look that “the bulge” achieves.

I wish more men would wear makeup. sigh

Seriously. Hot.

Make sport of me and my fashion forwardness? I double dog dare ya!

Old school version

Making breasts look bigger is not the only purpose of a padded bra. Padded bras also hide nipples. There are some padded bras that are designed not to add size, but for that purpose- I used to have one.

My tits are pretty big (D) and I wear padded bras. All my flat chested friends groan and roll their eyes at this discovery, but sorry- padded bras give your chest a nice shape, cover nipples, and are more comfy, imho.

I don’t consider a push-up bra the same thing as a padded bra. Padded bras I guess enhance the bust size, but they can be useful for preventing nipples from showing through thin shirts too. There are also various levels of padded - most padded bras seem to be mostly for comfort/the nipple issue, and are really just a thin layer of squishy cotton, not anything that would really mislead anyone about bust size.

I don’t know that Push-up bras make boobs look bigger so much as hold them in a different place/make them perky. I’m actually not a woman who needs any size enhancement - they’re big enough, thanks – but for a couple years all I wore was push-up bras because those suckers really stay in place!

Even if the look of a padded bra is desirable (and it obviously has to be since millions of women use them) why isn’t there a stink about “you don’t have the goods and you’re a fake”

Because I do, in fact, have the goods?

Well, obviously, I’m not talking about women with big breasts who wear padded bras for other reasons. The OP is about small-chested women who wear padded bras to make their breasts look bigger than they are.

I wear cleavage enhancing bras to make my tits defy gravity- is that false advertising?

It depends, how low do they go without the cleavage enhancing bras?

How would you know?

Finding a bra that isn’t at least lightly padded and shaped is near impossible, especially if you don’t wear high necklines. And wearing something flimsy that reveals the shape of your nipples really does seem risqué, in this fashion cycle. And it really is just fashion. Someone – a dressmaker, or maybe a plastic surgeon – decided that there’s got to be a ‘balance’ between tits and ass, a 36-25-34 or whathaveyou, and if you haven’t got it you’ve got to rectify it.

Certainly not bad, but not under my chin like my bra makes 'em. I am 24, not 44, after all.
