But they demonstrably are given that they frequently repeat it, often verbatim from their chosen media sources.
Riiiiiiggggghhhtttt… because people ALWAYS talk about good and bad events in their equal proportion on social media (and in general conversation).
I understand completely. You both think the economy is a disaster because of higher grocery prices and you want as many people as you can reach through social media and other communication channels to also realize it’s a disaster so they don’t vote.
Oh you’re even asserting that there’s no disinformation now?
And please stop just repeating that groceries are more expensive (in un-adjusted terms).
No one has disputed that in 500 posts. Yes inflation is real, and noticeable, and painful to the people who haven’t received pay rises.
Now, can we move to any acknowledgement at all that unemployment being at a record high is disinformation and where they likely heard that?
According to this late May poll…
91% of voters see inflation as a “Very Large” (62%) or “Moderately Large” (29%) issue
61% of voters see unemployment the same way (25%, 36%)
More people see inflation as a very big problem than the combined very/moderately total for unemployment.
Unemployment is, in fact, the least cited major issue for the nation. Forget inflation, you would get more mileage out of convincing people that domestic terrorism numbers look great than to keep beating the unemployment numbers/misinformation drum.
WOW. You really don’t get it. Not even a little. For starters I’ve never said the economy is a disaster so you’re putting words in my mouth.
You can’t understand how rising food prices have a negative impact on how people view the economy and that perception is reinforced 52 times a year. There are no statistics that are going to make much of an impression against the reality of less money in their pocket.
It appears that people arguing against the idea that voters associate higher grocery prices with the economy.
That is exactly the impression I am getting also.
But how does this make sense as a root cause? There would be nothing stopping such a cycle of false information under trump, or anyone else.
Some voters do, some voters don’t. Can’t just treat “voters” as a monolith here.
Unemployment was, in fact, considered a much larger issue in 2020 (see charts on previously linked page)
Of course, unemployment was higher with Covid and all but it’s not as though people mysteriously didn’t care about it then but super care about it now. Closer to the opposite, in fact.
Fun Fact: Fewer Republicans currently see unemployment as a top issue now than in 2020 when Trump was president
Well that’s an obvious statement. But who is affected most by higher prices on necessities? The poor and middle class.
“Your team can’t do the simple job of picking up the football and carrying it to the other side of the field. Other team? What other team, and what does that have to do it?”
Also not a monolith.
General fretting over “the economy!” probably isn’t quite the driver it’s being billed as. Some effect, of course, as in any presidential election. But not a determinative one as a lone factor.

“Your team can’t do the simple job of picking up the football and carrying it to the other side of the field. Other team? What other team, and what does that have to do it?”
The literal job of Team A is to bring the ball across in opposition to Team B. Not to whine about how unfair it is that Team B is trying to stop them.
So, you admit that there is an organized effort to spread misinformation? Why is openly acknowledging this “whining”?

So, you admit that there is an organized effort to spread misinformation?
That’s not what I actually said but that seems to be a running theme for this thread.
But, again (and for the -umpteenth time), sure. Let’s say it’s all misinformation. Again, you can’t solve that before November. Biden got outflanked. Biden needs to correct and convince people that he’s in tune with their economic perceptions and has answers. If he doesn’t do THAT before November, nothing else really matters.
But all anyone wants to do is shake their fists and cry “Misinformation!” to the sky. Hence, whining.

The literal job of Team A is to bring the ball across in opposition to Team B.
Team A is playing football under football rules. Team B is tucking pistols in their shoulder pads and spiking Team A’s Gatorade with strychnine.

Team A is playing football under football rules. Team B is tucking pistols in their shoulder pads and spiking Team A’s Gatorade with strychnine.
Hence the Politics Ain’t Beanbag link under that statement. It doesn’t “excuse” it or say it’s all okay but crying about it doesn’t help.
Nobody is saying that deliberate misinformation is the one and only cause.

Biden needs to correct and convince people that he’s in tune with their economic perceptions and has answers
True enough.
