Same with “footage”. While it was (and often is) still measured in feet in film, in video it tends to go by timecode (hours:minutes:seconds:frames), but we still say “footage”.

Video is divided into fields and fames, the basic still pictures which are shown in sequence to create the illusion of movement. Video systems use timecode to label each frame: the hour, minute, second that it was created, and which frame it was in that second. Often the timecode will be displayed on top of the video or alongside it in the editing system. Many camcorders display timecode.

I’d seen the available ‘markets’ in towns up in North Dakota and Montana. I also found that venturing forth into the interior Canadian markets up in Winnipeg and Regina had a great clientèle, but those markets tended to cater only to Canadian buyers.

I found the best lady of a lifetime though. I married a near-Canadian from Detroit, who, come to find out, in those parts is more northern than the Canadians in the area.

So yeah, I get the best of both worlds: More Northern than a Canadian, and she can legally buy me guns.

Oh yes. those are the statues I thought you meant. I love those statues, especially the one taking a picture of the spectators. But they aren’t associated with the CN Tower; they’re part of the Dome.

Perhaps it is a translation problem. In this neck of the woods, nice means pleasant, polite, merciful or friendly. 200 years ago, it meant precise. Do any of those meanings fit some of the Canadian whiskeys you have had? (Or Canadian whiskeys that have had you?)

Please understand, I’m not exactly standing up for Canada’s whiskeys. I’m a Kentucky Straight Bourbon guy, myself.

We had a longer than usual autumn this year. It lasted 20 minutes instead of the usual 15.

Musta been a different weather system at work out west. We got just a hair over 10 minutes instead of the usual 14. The trees were so shocked they stripped stark nekkid right there on the spot.
