Imagine my surprise. Another drive by post by Brutus that totally ignores any of the substantial points raised in this debate. You, sir, are a puffed up cowardly blowhard. The bleating posts that you make have no more meaning than the whistling of the winter wind.
If you have something to say about this issue, say it. Stand and be counted, make your thoughts on the issue known. Any fool can take pot shots, but it takes character to unambiguously lay your stance on the line and take your lumps.
In rereading my second post from last night, I wish I’d found a better way to express myself. The anger was real, but my framing of it was over the top. I apologize for crossing a kind of icky line. Still, though, am I gonna hafta be the one to say it?

It doesn’t mean you’re stupid, it just means that, regarding whatever topic is at hand, you’ve chosen not to devote a lot of time and energy into learning a whole lot about it. It’s not even an insult. If your faith leads you to choose not to educate yourself on the workings of evolution, fine; totally your choice. Ditto, if you choose not to educate yourself on the life and perspective of gay people. Totally your choice.
So don’t bristle at the word “ignorant.” Embrace it, be proud, wear it as a badge of your faith.
Oh yeah, almost forgot. I’ve got a Bible verse for you, Lynn:
Hmm. Sounds to me like God doesn’t want you to just take His word for it, but wants you to check things out for yourself. Maybe he doesn’t want you to just say “Because the Bible says so” but actually wants you to go out and research things. Sounds like a reasonable suggestion to me.
People disagree with each other vehemently all the time. The difference vbetween most people here and you, Lynn73, is that they try to use reasoned arguments to back up their positions, whereas you sound like a skipping CD, "The Bible says. . . , The Bible says. . . , The Bible says. . . " You have closed your mind to any new information and you have completely lost the ability to think through an arguemtn. If any datum conflicts with your primitive notions, you ignore it. That makes you a very annoying person to talk with.
There is a quote from Shakespeare that is very apropos to your style of argument: “I think so for no other than a woman’s reason; I think so because I think so.”

No, Lynn, you’re wrong. JerseyDiamond is ignorant. And she admits it. Which is whay she’s actually been trying to understand things lately. I respect that, and respect her for it.
I still think her comments in this thread and elsewhere have been a pretty piss-poor witness, mind you, but that’s as may be. More on that in a moment.
As a personal note–you asked elsewhere why you always seem to make people mad over here? No, you’re not expected to “say what they want to hear.” You’re merely expected not to be a jerk. However intentionally or unintentionally, you have a big problem succeeding at that. You often come across as sanctimonious, arrogant, ignorant, or bitchy. I guess you really don’t mean to, except perhaps for the sanctimonious part. But really, if you still don’t understand why you come across as you do, I don’t know that you ever will. Or can.
Oh, and one last thing . . . Jersey’s martyred cries notwithstanding, merely being a conservative Christian on this MB is not a death sentence. You know that very well. She hasn’t been banned, you haven’t, lots of people haven’t. Joe was banned for being a jerk, deliberately and with malice aforethought. When she tells someone to get off the cross, perhaps she needs to look in the mirror as well.
