I had a case a while back where my client’s computer was seized. It took over four months for the secret service to do a forensic computer evaluation, and the computer was in pristine condition. So no, I don’t think it is strange at all that it is taking time. Not to mention the fact that there is no rush. The perpetrator is dead, and there is no “speedy trial” considerations.

I think what I asked was pretty clear: why are you asking about Lanza “falling off the grid” and about the potential security camera footage? What is your broader view of the subject? You’re not citing your opinion and you’re not explaining what it is you want to know, so this is becoming pointless. Please explain.

Many times, news reports are wrong. It was reported that Lanza had tried to purchase guns. Those reports turned out to be inaccurate.
There is no footage of him at any gun stores becuae he did not go to any gun stores. The people who told law enforcement and the media that they saw him at a gun store were mistaken.
So have I. I think I was the first one, too. They are obviously not coming.
We keep telling him these things, but the conversation is not advancing.
Half-remembered and un-cited news reports are much more truthish than any follow-up could ever be. Random speculation from the heat of the moment makes for better conspiracy-mongering than any results of further investigation. And an on-going investigation shows that the Authorities are just trying to get their stories straight.
Is that how it works?
Assuming the footage exists, then what? Are you expecting footage of an armed gunman shooting innocent people dead to be released to the media and broadcast on the six o’clock news?
I wouldn’t hold my breath on that.
It’s as good an explanation as any. I’m baffled by what motivates this kind of thing. Sometimes is quite unexpected, from people who sound to intelligent and rational to fall into that.

Smapti, the school had just months before installed an expensive new video surveillance system so that any approaching, entering the front office would be in camera. Pretty straightforward, so that anyone walking in is captured on film. Yet we are never shown anything. I went to el pollo loco a hour ago and they had a video system, you can be sure if someone robs them and shoots a couple people they will at least release footage of the gunman entering the store,if not the incident. There should have.been footage released in a very short time after the incident, playing on the news, with commentators noting “here is Adam lanza as he is seen appriaching the doors,now we see him inside the main office” ,its the whole reason they installed that 300,000 $ system to begin with.
Well, if that doesn’t prove an government conspiracy, I don’t know what does!

I can understand some people lack the sophistication to realize how unrealistic their theories are, and there are certainly people who do this stuff for fun and profit. I just don’t understand the underlying paranoia that drives this thing. A little bit of fear and relief from boredom may get some people involved, but it’s just surprising to see how many people chase a little misinformation down the rabbit hole.
Tollhouse: Please come out and say what you are alleging. That you don’t believe that Adam Lanza perpetrated the Sandy Hook shooting? That it was all staged?
Personally, all I can find are mentions of a system with a video monitor showing visitors, who needed to be buzzed into the building. That sort of system wouldn’t need any sort of storage, since they’re just seeing a live feed of the front door.

Heres an ABC News report(interestingly truncated) about the video system. Every time I search for info on this I get a bunch of CT stuff (as this is video is as well).

If it’s true that the school installed a new camera system, I can tell you that it wasn’t done so that people could later watch footage of somebody shooting up their school. They did it to aid in the investigation of any crimes that the cameras might happen to catch. Releasing that footage now isn’t going to help with any investigation, and convincing conspiracy theorists that Lanza existed is probably really low on their ‘give a fuck’ list. It should probably be a lot lower on mine, to be honest, but here I am.
As far as the systems at stores and such, these tapes are routinely overwritten weekly or even daily as long as nothing of note happens. Nobody is going to spend the money and effort to keep and file a permanent record of every boring moment of every boring day.
