Wiki: Katy Selverstone - Wikipedia

She played Drew’s girlfriend Lisa in the first season and part of the second, then boom, she was gone. Always liked her. Was there some problem behind the scenes? Did the producers decide she just didn’t fit in the show anymore?

There for awhile it seemed like she was going to break out - I remember seeing her often. Then … nothing. I don’t know why she left the show, but I always thought she was cute and sweet.

She was 'way out of Drew’s league, but somehow it worked. She also, I thought, had a nerd-girl vibe to her before it was chic.

She may not have had the comedic talent they were looking for in the show. It was a collection of oddball comics and she was like Marilyn on the Munsters. But most likely it was just her agent telling her to take other roles, or she stopped sleeping with the producer.

I saw her in a Broadway show not that long after the Drew Carey Show, but I’m pretty sure she didn’t leave the show to take that part.

Was she ever intended to be a permanent part of the show? She was just a long term recurring character, which the Drew Carey Show had a lot. She was in two seasons, but she wasn’t in every single episode.

She was way out of just about everybody’s league, in my opinion.

So was Christa Miller, for that matter.

Is this her? I always liked her, even though I thought I wouldn’t.

I am a bad person, because that was my first guess.

Wikipedia doesn’t have her listed as a cast member, so I think your right.

Seems to me from her IMDB page, she’s just a TV star. She has many short duration credits. This topic comes up a lot – she’s a pretty, talented actress … in an industry glutted with pretty, talented actresses. They can’t all get a series. Drew had a series for years, and now, he’s Bob Barker’s slightly uncomfortable clone. As it was said, she wasn’t a main character, that was the whole running joke on the Drew Carey show, Drew never finds the love of his life, but keeps trying.

I wouldn’t go nerd girl. She had an eclectic look and lifestyle (multiple pets, ran off with some guy to travel the world) but geeky, nerdy, tech-savvy, no that wasn’t there – for me anyway.

The female leads on The Drew Carey show were often eclectic. Mimi was a strong woman, confident of her physical attractiveness – in bold defiance of the evidence. Kate wasn’t just mixing femininity with tom-boyishness – she was actually dangerously violent at times.

You could say that about just about everyone Drew dated on that show. Well, maybe not Shirley Jones, but if she was a few years younger…

Uh . . . thanks. You couldn’t have put a waring ahead of that link?
Something like: “Warning- You’ll spend the rest of the evening in your bunk”

I actually had plans tonight. Plans that must now be postponed.

I’ll be in my bunk.

Yes, first seen at 1:09 in the purple dress who then dances around Drew. Lucky bastard.
