Why did nbcnews.com get rid of comics and sudoku?

For a month, comics and sudoku on nbcnews-dot-com have been funky. Some of the comics were updated, some weren’t. Sudoku was updated sporadically; sometimes with the ‘missed’ games available, and sometimes with only the current date available. For the past couple of days I notced that Comics and Sudoku are missing from the left-column menu; but I just went to History and got there to find current content. This morning, that didn’t work. Looks like they took them down entirely.

Did they just decide they weren’t important? Maybe a contractual issue? I was recently notified that I would no longer be able to use my msnbc bookmark. Maybe the discontinuation of the msnbc domain affected their entertainment section, and they’ll be back once they have things sorted?

Not that it’s all that great. I can get Lio and Tom The Dancing Bug elsewhere.

Could be they’re just re-organizing.

Could be nbcnews.com just decided that stuff wasn’t a fit post-split.

Shit.

Clearly it wasn’t making them a profit and since they aren’t a charity they dropped it.

Too bad the only reason I used MSNBC/NBCNews as a news site, was that I enjoyed playing their Sudoku game and getting my daily Lio fix.
