Anyway, I’m pretty sure their studies showed that prostitutes are both safer and make more money with a pimp than without. This is for the streetwalking kind. There was of course more money to be made in other kinds of prostitution, like escort services and such.
Like other markets, the power prostitutes have vs pimps depends in large part on what they bring to the table. If a girl is a drug-addled, not-very-bright, not-very-attractive person who isn’t very desirable in the prostitute market, she’ll probably find herself with the lowest common denominator and have no bargaining power whatsoever. She’ll do anything for a fix, and the pimp knows it.
On the other hand, if a college educated gorgeous woman is looking to put herself through grad school by doing escort work, she brings considerable value to the table, and can negotiate for much better terms. Such women wind up with people like the Mayflower madam and are isolated from a lot of the seedier side of the sex trade. They make good money, because the Madam also makes good money and needs to keep the girl employed with her.
So like other markets, it all depends on who the players are.
Truth is, they dont NEED a pimp. a woman can go, put herself in danger to be raped, and deal with the situation on her own. But because these women have such a low self esteem (to have sex with people and risk themselves to std and dangers and criminal consequences) there is alot of baggage that these girls have that they can not deal with on their own. Many are alchoholics or drug addicts or use drugs in order to numb the pain that they go through in order to recieve the amount of funds that they do in such high risk and against society. *They can only be friends with other whores since no one approves of that lifestyle. but even their friends will try and manipulate them or even steal dates from them since they can see straight through their insecurities. (since noone in society accepts them) all these girls want is attention and to be loved, and by having a man around , they are more paying for their companionship since no REAL man would let anyone disrespect his REAL woman. a pimp is just defined as the man who stays with them in order to recieve the funds and yes they do have sex with them in order to keep the woman around but she does have to PAY him first. Yes as Tbaby explained, she brings it to the table like a real husband and wife, but that is all an illusion, because he will only be around as long as shes paying him and there is FAR more disrespect in the relationship than a marriage. Unless this man has no emotional connection to her and makes her pay before sex, then he is a pimp. if he just stays with her for the money and nothing more, she still has power over the pussy and he is just a boyfriend pimp.the less emotion, the more money they make. A pimp is only as good as his hoe and that needs two people capable of having low self esteem to pimp and hoe. but as a hoe, she does not advance financially since her pimp will take everything if she decides to leave. they can only grow together which makes them both dependent on another. THE REASON SO MANY RAPPERS GLORIFY PIMPS, IS BECAUSE THEY ARE PIMPS OR WERE AT ONE POINT IN TIME. MANY PEOPLE HAVE TALENT, BUT ITS ONLY THOSE WHO KNOW THE RIGHT PEOPLE THAT GET NOTICED. AND MOST OF THEM CANT GET NOTICED BECAUSE THEY ONLY KNOW PEOPLE IN THE HOOD. SO ONE WAY TO GET NOTICED IS TO PAY FOR STUDIO TIME, MANAGERS, AND FOR COLLABORATIONS WITH OTHER FAMOUS ARTISTS AND FOR MUSIC VIDEOS WHICH IS WHERE THE HOES COME IN TO SUPPLY FOR THEIR “DREAMS.” because honest be told, they are too emotional and cant go to school, so rapping is the easiest thing to do. they rap about the money they have because the people around them in the hood dont.
