This thread, in particular this post, made me wonder why hunting seasons don’t always start on weekends. Why not start the season a few days earlier or later, on a Saturday, and make things easier for hunters who work or go to school?
It all depends on which state you live in - in Virginia, they seem to start on Saturdays. In Pennsylvania, I seem to remember that deer season always started the Monday after Thanksgiving.
As to why…I don’t have a good answer. Maybe by starting on a weekday, they reduce the number of idiot first-time hunters out in the woods at one time?
In Ohio, shotgun deer season always starts on a Monday.
Working a 40-hour week, Monday to Friday, is a modern and urban practice.
Hunting on Sunday is often prohibited.
