Since we’ve switched to the new software I’ve had to log in to the board 3 or 4 times. It appears to happen when I go to user cp, but it also happened once when I tried to post a reply.
Does the login info time out now? I’m using the Opera browser.
First of all, don’t run with scissors.
In your user options, do you have Yes selected for both
Automatically login when you return to the site? (uses cookies)
and
Browse board with cookies?
Clicking yes will use cookies to keep your id for this session. Clicking no will send it through the links. (Selecting no may cause problems when sharing links with people behind the same proxy as you)
Yes, there is a cookie timeout. Some other people are complaining about their cookies unexpectedly disappearing. We are going to have to investigate the problem.
I do have both options turned on. It appears that I lose my cookies whenever I either close the browser or reboot my machine (which is pretty much the same thing - I rarely close my browser except when it’s to reboot, which I do about once a week).
Is everyone experiencing this, or is it only Opera users?
The problem may well be with Opera, as the vB software was written for IE.
With every upgrade or change to the vB software, some change to Netscape and Opera and etc. seems to be necessary. The developers for these alternate browsers do eventually make changes but they often lag behind upgrades to vB, it’s an ongoing problem.
I suggest you bring this to their attention and see if they’ll do something about it.
