Sometimes the SDMB will send me 5, 6, 7, 8, or more E-mail notifications of the same post in a subscribed thread. It doesn’t happen very often and I can’t figure out any pattern for it – usually I just get one notification – and I’m not talking about situations in which different posters are posting quickly one after another. These are multiple notifications for the same post. Any idea what might be going on here?
I e-mailed Tubadiva a few months ago, and she basically said I should be grateful, because some people don’t get them at all, and she didn’t know why it happens. I just read 'em and delete 'em.
I guess the system just loves you. 
Not sure why sometimes the system sends many and sometimes sends none; it does seem to be feast or famine. And it seems to be the luck of the draw as to whether you will be showered with emails or not sent any; it’s two sides of the same coin manifesting as different problems, as it’s caused by the server reacting to demand. Either the server drops tasks (and you get no email) or it thrashes around a bit (and you get a bunch of email).
I’m sorry. It’s yet another one of those things we have had to deal with and have not yet found a good solution. We are working on it.

I woke up on New Year’s Day to find sixteen identical e-mail messages for the Celebrity Death Pool thread. I was actually kind of amused. I figured the hamsters had gotten into the champagne.
