Oddly, I don’t mind hearing about my friend’s or sister’s dreams, but my mother just annoys the heck out of me when she tells me about her dreams! I have tried to discourage her from telling me about them buy simply ignoring her and saying nothing when she tells me about them, but it hasn’t worked.
I agree with the OP. I hate hearing about other people’s dreams with a passion. I mean, I actually feel the rage rising when someone is going on and on about their stupid cucumber dream (:))…I even hate it when books go into someone’s dream. Listen book: UNLESS IT’S RELEVANT TO THE PLOT, STFU! And lots of times I miss the relevance anyway because the dream has gone on too long and I’ve skipped past it all.
As others have said, if you make it brief and succint, and only tell the interesting parts, it can work. I once had a dream that for some reason AT WORK I had printed out a bunch of penis pics. I left them on the printer, and all of my coworkers saw them! I told my coworkers about that one…but that was how I told it, in two sentences. They thought it was uproarious because they can’t imagine me with porn (I am quite demure in real life…most of the time.)
But to go on and on…please note that my eyes are totally glazing over.
I must admit, I did enjoy hearing about that dream. ;)
