IANAL and this may be UL, but what I had always heard about str8 porn was that in olden days when “nudity” legally equalled “obscenity,” having the men wear black socks was a defense. “He’s not nude, he’s wearing socks.” No idea if, or why, women would be in socks and/or shoes, although perhaps the reason is the same? Or some old perv just decided shoes on a nekkid woman look hot and it became a trend and then an institution. Reaching back into the memory banks to my (thankfully) limited experiences with str8 porn I don’t remember that the women always wore shoes.
FWIW, in gay porn the choices are either bare feet, dirty white socks or socks and work boots.
