I should admit that I am drunk, but why do hamburgers and especially fried onions smell sooooo good. i know i will probably get food poisioning from the burgers, but they still taste soooooo good. why is that???

as for the onions, they’re fried on the same grill 
grease, or fat. Fat is what makes meat taste good.

I have to post to the contrary. Most of the street food I have gotten has been awful. Stale pretzels in New Yorkm and I won’t even go near hot dogs. Yucky!
UMMMM, street vendors are great!! I think it all tastes so good because you’ve got to be really hungry to eat there in the first place…or you’re drunk and it’s the closest thing around. Sorry for the jack, but what about that carnival food…greasy Polish sausages and elephant ears and then a spin on the Himalaya!!
Quite simple really, carbon monoxide from the passing busses deadens the taste buds almost as quickly as it kills the brain cells required to judge a food’s edibility.
Net result, scrumptious stray animal burgers.
