Why do you like Donald Trump as President?

You left out giving our secrets to the Russians.

I’ll bite the bullet and say it:

Melania Trump is fucking hideous (and, although Donald Trump hideous as well, he’s not the hideous she’s fucking. I’m using the word as an adjective, not a noun). She does absolutely nothing for me. I look at her face, and it’s like there’s a void where her features should be.

She’s ugly. Yes, she has a nice figure. But I’d have a great body if my day consisted of sending Baron to school, then working out so that Trump wouldn’t catch me when he ran around the apartment with his pants around his ankles, his flaccid penis flopping against one cellulite-heavy, pasty white thigh, only rising just for it to yell “no” like the Hulk in “Infinity Wars.”

My apologies if the sarcasm didn’t come across (sincerely.) Trump is indeed the lunatic I referenced. I of course don’t know who or what brought Un and Moon together, but my joke was meant to convey that if Trump had any role it was as motivation to keep his tiny cocktail-wiener fingers off the big red button.

Because he’s stupid?

The true irony is that, while Clothahump perfectly encapsulates and demonstrates “Dunning-Kruger,” he’s unable to realize that he’s the unintelligent one, instead insisting that it’s us who are the dumb ones.

It’s cognitive dissonance writ large. It’s why you will never hear Taylor Swift write a song called, “Maybe It’s Me.”

Supporters? Fans? How about worshippers?

Cal Thomas addressed this a few weeks ago - that some Christians appear to be worshipping Trump, not Jesus. Yeah, I agreed with him. That was a first.

I am thinking about this, and one of my problems with conservatives is that they never, ever, ever think they have got something wrong. Anything. You can throw facts at them and it’s almost like, if they change their minds about anything, then they seem to feel they can never call themselves a real conservative again.

So let’s see, Trump is good because he DID change the minds of some conservatives I know and they are no longer members of the Republican party. There must be others who have similarly become enlightened due to his horribleness. People across the country, questioning and maybe even (gasp!) changing their minds.

But I think a lot of guys like Trump–no, love him–because this is a guy who eats no shit. Most people in their daily life get a big old bite of a shit sandwich, metaphorically speaking of course, almost every day, and certainly every week.

Not Trump. Nope, he gets what he wants. Somebody in his circle doesn’t go his way, that person is OUT. He gets what he wants, he’s filthy rich, and he has a hot wife.

So if you can’t be him, at least you can worship him.

And he has hit the sweet spot, people gullible enough to think by worshipping him they can be him, or at least think that he’s ON THEIR SIDE, so at least they’re on the same side as their false god, and people who, once they choose an object of worship, will never, ever change their mind. Not if he shoots somebody on 5th Avenue. He’s said so himself and he’s probably right.

That wasn’t my personal opinion of Trump voters, but my understanding of the views expressed in the specific article that was linked to, since some posters claimed to not understand its content or seemed to have interpreted it in a rather creative way.

So I’m curious - in what way was Clinton’s 2016 campaign really driven by identity politics? I mean, when you look at what she had to say on the campaign trail, there was a lot of talk about how Trump was racist, sexist, etc., but to what degree can it be said that she was focusing on identity politics, any more than she was focusing on, I dunno, jobs, or syria, or any other important issue?

Oh, no. You see, calling it an American problem makes it sound as if you guys are exceptional in that. It’s a problem in pretty much any location which has a voting system in place, while not having compulsory voting.

The part about the electoral college? That is a quintessential American problem.

There’s also the ones who have always been at war with Eurasia, although those seem to be found in a variety of settings.

Yeah. Worshipers is pretty much it. Look at this utter nonsense.

By the way, doesn’t anyone remember the Republicans condemning Obama’s supporters for worshiping Obama? The hypocrisy meter is pegged, nailed in place even.

I think you can find the answerhere:

In a nutshell, people who can’t read support Trump. If they could read, they would grok the 1st Amendment separation of church and state. But they can’t, therefore they don’t, and here we are.

I’m sorry, but “Why do you like Donald Trump as President?”? I’d like to know why anyone would like him just as a person! Seriously, this guy is terrible.

I don’t think his supporters are all (or mostly) sexist, racist bigots. But yes, frankly-speaking, all the trump supporters I’ve met, their reason for identifying with him is ignorance.

Let’s take the example of trade deficits. Trump talks about trade deficits as inherently a bad thing, and evidence of an exploitative relationship. He talks about America “losing money”.
Any person who’s read one page of any book on economics, will know that’s nonsense based on a fundamental misunderstanding. But a lot of people *haven’t *read one page, and to them, Trump is “telling it like it is”, and not being “PC”.

And I know what the response to all this will be: “Calling all Trump supporters ignorant is just making the country more divided”, “makes the right wing hate liberals more” etc etc. But what can I say? Every time I talk to a trump supporter, their support is based first and foremost on a lack of knowledge of some topic, be it climate science, economics, crime statistics etc.

If anyone wishes to reply to me, please start with answering this: Does Trump understand trade deficits? Do his supporters?

Pretty much why I started the thread. Hard to wrap your mind around anyone liking him in any way shape of form. He’s repugnant in every way. A disgrace to our country.

To start with, they are not incorrect. Your assumption that they are is what is incorrect.

Look at the economy. American business sat on cash and did not expand while Obama was in office. They’re spending the cash now. Look at Obama’s war on coal. Look at Cash For Clunkers, which totally devastated the after-market used car parts businesses.

Here’s a 2012 article on Obama’s tax policy screwing small business owners.

And the list goes on. I know you hate Trump and you think the sun shines out of Obama’s butt and all that, but the cold fact of the matter is that we are better off under Trump than under Obama.

How he treats women?

As a child Donald Trump was raised to respect women and treat them as equals.

Donald Trump loves staying fit by playing sports and knows sometimes people coarsely joke in the locker room as a sign of respect.

Donald Trump has always been a courageous fighter. If you punch him, he will punch back hard.

Given how Donald Trump was taught to treat women as equals, if a woman attacks him, he will treat her the way he would treat a man.

Donald Trump doesn’t really see gender in his dealings, he only notices behavior.

When they (i.e. Mika) attack him, Donald Trump thinks it is entirely disrespectful to women to treat them with kid gloves as though they are precious flowers. Ignoring their abuse would go against his fundamental desire to treat men and women equally.

Donald Trump thinks most women want equal treatment but there is a group who are full of tough talk but claim to be victims when people respond, misusing their privileged status.

Everything Donald Trump does is founded upon his high regard for his daughters and other women. Nobody respects women more than he does.

The staff turnover surely is something that you can look at 100% objectively. What previous admininstration had such a high level of turnover? Don’t you want someone who is cooly, calmly, and rationally competent and can choose advisers that he can stick with? And how could it not bother you, at least a little bit?

Had to push it just a little too far, didn’t you? Almost had us, but you gave yourself away.

Decent effort, though. C minus!

And let’s not forget the gutting of the consumer protection bureau. Being able to defraud your customers with impunity is great for businesses.

He’s just fulfilling his campaign promise to drain the swamp. Yes they were people that he hired, but you gotta admit they were pretty swampy.
