My understanding of a “free market” health insurance system is one that would include determinations that some people are too expensive to cover. How does your view of such a system address this? Am I misunderstanding your view of how such a system operates.
The belief that illegal immigrants cost this country tens of billions of dollars a year is widely believed, but not actually true. These people are a net gain on the economy; they pay taxes and don’t use all the benefits they are entitled to. As for money going overseas - are you referring to the money they are sending home to their families? Or is this is reference to U.S. foreign aid?
I am confused about “loose enforcement”. I believe it to be a myth. Have you ever considered how many people Obama actually deported?
Who is praising horrible living conditions? Really, I am not aware of this.
Illegal immigrants commit most identity fraud? I was not aware of that. Can you point my to a source for that knowledge?
So, if I understand you right, you like Trump because he will fight against globalists, people getting rich off of government, grandstanding and disingenuous politicians, and inflammatory news? I mean this with total sincerity: how do you think he’s doing addressing these things? What has he done to improve these conditions? Is there anything he’s done that seems contrary to fixing these issues?
Absolutely not. I took the question slightly different and answered why i voted for him. I would end up writing a book if I was trying to explain everything he has done since election that made me a supporter.
I am surprised every time I come into these type of forums and see people seriously not be able to think of a single thing Trump has done they agree with. You DONT like lower taxes? You DONT like peace in korea? You DONT like companies coming back to the US? You DONT like more jobs being created every single day? You DONT like a strong stock market?
It just blows my mind that any american would be unable to come up with at least a few things they like that have happened under his presidency.
OP here. Thank you Ruined, for responding. Contrary to what many may think, people that don’t like Trump are not all big Clinton supporters. There was just no other choice for most of us.
The only thing that Trump has done is dissolve legislation that would help the environment, hurt health care opportunities, and pass legislation that will ultimately favor the rich and super rich. And lets not forget support racial and ethnic divisiveness.
And of course made us pretty much a laughing stock of the rest of the world and insulted our allies.
Also, of course, he’s working on enriching himself by forgetting the emoluments cause in the constitution. That’s an impeachment right there, along with obstruction of justice of course.
Sheesss. Trump is the worst one of the bunch. Now his business is involved in a $500 million deal with China. And the money he is making at Mar a Lago having State leaders stay there. Apparently he does not like Camp David. Can’t make a buck off of that of course. And his hotels in DC… and?
I DONT like fiscal irresponsibility…my taxes only went down temporarily, and they will need to go back up in a few years because of the reckless spending that is ongoing.
When has there been peace in North Korea? There hasn’t even been a summit, and today Un is threatening to call it off. I’ll presume that you thought the negotiations with Iran were reckless and poorly done; why is this any different? Have you considered, at all, that the North Koreans are duplicitous and not to be trusted??
Tell me more about companies coming back to the U.S. Please regale me with these stories.
Also, talk to me about how jobs are being created at a clip above and beyond Obama’s time in office. Yes, I’m glad jobs are being created every day, but what does that have to do with Trump? My boss hired me, and he hates Trump.
And, yes, considering the alternative, I do want a strong stock market. But it is not the end-all, be-all of the economy, I don’t really have much invested in it. Do you typically consider the stock market your determination of the health of the economy, or can you perceive a situation where the stock market grows at the expense of other important economic concerns (perhaps, say, when oil prices go up, along with the cost of filling up your car).
My taxes have and will continue to increase under the new budget plan.
There is NO peace in Korea. I work for a S. Korean company. It’s volatile at best. Korea is not obeying US demands, instead they are blowing up a base that has been decommissioned and unuseable.
More factories are leaving, which are coming back? Apple?
More jobs ARE NOT being created everyday. Which are these? Our job rates are the same as four years ago.
My 401K isn’t getting bigger, it’s lost since January 2017. Hmmm… guess I should switch to stocks only owned by Trump then?
Man, talk about echo chambers. Your posts sound like 4Chan summaries.
…Let’s not forget about the 500k (or is it more now?) going to Trumps attorney from AT&T. And a few hundred thousand from a Russian. Yep, draining the swamp.
**In any health insurance/ health care marketplace you can only have 2 of 3 things. Availability, Quality, or Affordability.
In our pre ACA system we had Quality and Affordability. ACA has Availability and Quality. The issue I see is that the entire point of health insurance is to make health care affordable. With the ACA we have seen skyrocketing premiums, companies having to lay off employees to get under the magical 50 employee mark or simply not hiring because it costs too much. We have now had reports coming out that people are being put onto long waiting lists for procedures just like socialized healthcare systems.
So yes, people will fall through the cracks, it is inevitable in any system. The great thing about American healthcare is that you dont have to have insurance to get treated, you will just be paying for it yourself. Socialized systems cannot boast this because everyone has health insurance(unless you are a non citizen and then you are fucked) BUT you no longer get immediate treatment. Would you rather go the hospital and have your life saved and pay for it for 20 years or die because you could not get treatment at all?**
**We will have to just disagree here, as we are both correct depending on what data you look at. I will just say that even if it is a net zero, 1st and 2nd generation immigrants commit over 27% of violent crime, they raise our healthcare costs by using emergency rooms for everything, and yes ship money back to families from the states. Thanks to chain migration there is actually no cap on how many immigrants could come to America.
**
**I have. It is quite a low number. Early in his presidency, Obama changed the number of deportations to include turnaways. It was a clever ploy by him to seem strict on immigration. But of his 30 million number over 75% were not already in the country. He also had a huge amount of repeat offenders. People that would be deported and back in the country that week. I read an article a while back about one that was “deported” over 200 times.

**Similar to praising single motherhood, by not addressing the problem and trying to fix it, we are making it worse.

I let you just draw the line between “they pay taxes” and how they would do that without a fake identity.
**He has exposed a large amount of corruption in nearly every department of government.
He has been tough on foreign policy and has begun reinstating America as a world leader instead of a world charity(which is one way globalists have weakened the country).
He has called out fake news for what they are. Remember he was blasting the news every time they said something mean about him. He has been in the news his entire life and only when he won the primaries did the media really start going at him. Thats not a coincidence.
There is still lots of work to be done, but i think to best answer your last question. He has begun to put names to problems that were ignored almost entirely. He has not played nice with people that want to see him fail like most presidents. He is the president we need if we are serious about not repeating the mistakes of history.**
This sounds exactly what the left leaning media has been saying. You asked for reasons people support the president, and I gave you a few personal ones. Like I said in a previous post, if you wanted to know the reasons people support him you just have to google it.
Based on this response I am starting to regret my post. You responded to an honest answer with a bunch of opinions held by a bunch of people that already agree with you. I will pass on addressing them.
BTW, Putin’s Princess already broke the breakthrough in Korea, and he’s now rekindled violence in Gaza. Plus, Iran is threatening to resume nuclear testing. That’s just in the last week.
Awesome job in your eyes?
My guess is its just a negotiating tactic. The Koreas have come further in a year than in 70 so even if North Korea just denuclearizes, its a win for the world.
Also keep in mind that from a young age North Koreans are taught to love South Korea and hate America. They are very much interested in reunification, especially after seeing the success their neighbors have had.
Understanding trump supporters is the same as understanding anyone that disagrees with you. The first part of this statement is a good example. Those are not “facts” they are your conclusions based on facts. That is what we call opinions. People have drawn different conclusions from similar facts.
Cute, but I was drawing the distinction between opinion and fact.
Just because tax reform benefited some wealthy people does not mean it was intentionally passed to benefit wealthy people. First is a fact, second is an opinion.
