Oh, come on. I know you hate Michael Moore, and I know that most conservatives in general seem to hate Michael Moore. But Coulter has advocated forced conversions of Muslims to Christianity. She has claimed that all those who don’t share her political views are traitors - and she implied they ought to be killed. She promotes the removal of women’s right to vote. And she’s stated that the Emancipation Proclamation oughta be repealed. Is this someone you really want to defend?

I don’t want to argue on the merits of Michael Moore, but point to one thing he’s said as inflammatory as this. You can enjoy your juvenile “he hates America and he’s evil!” tirades all you like, but he’s never said anything as insane or hate-filled as the average Ann Coulter column.
So if the inhabitants of a sovereign country choose to defend themselves against an invading force, they’re evil to do so? This is just the old, familiar “equivalence” game that conservatives like to play. Michael Moore is their chosen “extreme spokesman on the left” that they want to establish as “equivalent” to Ann Coulter, even though he’s not nearly the vitriol-spewing harpie that Coulter is.
They used the exact same technique against Kerry – the whole point of the Swifties was to establish Bush and Kerry as “two guys whose Vietnam era service is disputed” rather than a combat veteran who earned medals for bravery and injury vs. an AWOL Texas Air National Guard draft dodger.
