You’re right. The song was “Brother Love’s Traveling Salvation Show;” the album it was on was called “Hot August Night” and I believe that was what his concert tour to promote the album was called as well. (One of the three times I saw him in concert.) I used to have the album, too.
Hello, people. This many posts and nobody got it? Fluiddruid’s Birthday Eve, ya’ll! I’m the moderator so nice, you celebrate my fucking. birthday. twice. or else

Because some of us Dopers have poor impulse control?
I don’t know what it is, but I’ve never seen a spoiler tag and successfully avoided it, even when I wanted to be surprised. I’m not that way with everything else, but something about spoilers–whether you have to click them or highlight them–is too hard to resist.
God help me, I still do. My parents played it over and over and over again when I was growing up, and those songs got so lodged in my cerebral cortex that I just had to get a copy of the album for myself when I struck out on my own. Which explains a lot about me, I guess…
Definitely the wedding day. Also that’s the only poll option that wasn’t mentioned in the other thread. I hope bright orange and blue aren’t her wedding colours.
Um…well, let’s say that some of our members are very creative. You read Mangetout’s post on how he couldn’t finish that durian cake? He’s saving the rest of it for the next mod birthday. Those white elephant/shot glass swaps…well, many times the recipients are Not Pleased with what they got. So they pass them on to US. Where did you think we got that goat? (And it was already trained to do THAT when we first got it.)
I was a huge Neil Diamond fan. He really did some good stuff (the later stuff was kind of cheesy) - “Sweet Caroline,” “Solitary Man,” “Brooklyn Roads”…and “Brother Love’s Traveling Salvation Show.”
I even named my second son - Neil (no, his middle name is not Diamond).
