Why does my tummy do flip-flops when I tickle it?

So I’m laying in bed last night, sprawled out quite comfortably, and gently scratching that spot between my navel and pubic hair because, well, it felt nice. It was more like stroking, actually – my fingers just *barely * touched my skin. Then, for some unknown reason, when I tickled right above my pubic hair line, my tummy did this wierd rolling flip-flop thing I’m at a loss to describe. None of my muscles ever did anything like that before. Perplexed, I tried tickling other parts of my body to see if they did the same thing, but it’s only that one thin strip on my belly that performs this action.

Surely someone can tell me what the long, impressive-sounding Latin name for this condition is?

.:Nichol:.

P.S. Apologies if this is TMI.

Happens to me if I brush my hands over my sides. My abs suddenly “jump” reflexively. I always assumed it was just some sort of reflex reaction, like kicking when you strike that particular part of the knee. Presumably it’s useful if you’re about to get mauled in the stomach by a tiger.
