Why Does the SDMB Hate Me?

I just hope he can handle it on his own. If he starts asking for volunteers to help, I’m outta here. I don’t how slow the board is.

Searches tend to put the most stress on the server. So…if you really want to do your part, DON’T do vanity searches.

Your ancestors violated a shrine. Return the Scared Eye Of Dooby-Dooby-Doo to the idol, or doom shall befall ye! Also, Duke Nukem shall befall ye, but not Lara Croft. She’s reserved for people wew likle.

By “vanity search”, do you mean searching for mentions of your name, or searching for threads in which you’ve posted? Because I do the latter frequently; otherwise I’d have to keep track of threads I’ve posted in, and even then I wouldn’t know if anyone’s replied.

That’s all vry well, Happy, but we were discussing accessing the SDMB. Besides, don’t women prefer men with, well, [i[stamina*?

Oh for Pete’s sake, there’s supposed to be a woman there?

No wonder I haven’t gotten any complaints.

Happy

Yes, but mostly the first example. Subscribing to a thread or checking the “Email Notification” box will alert you when someone has replied to a thread you’re interested in, by the way. I don’t know how much stress THOSE functions put on the server, but I’m willing to bet that it’s a lot less than searches.

What’s the best way then if you want to discuss a topic and don’t want to get bitched at for starting a thread that’s been done?

Ya know I mean? You’re damned either way…hmm :frowning:

Searching for threads before you post a new one is encouraged, but that doesn’t come up as often. If they wanted nobody to search ever, then they could just turn the search feature off. The bigger problem is people who do a big search every week or day, even, for something that they don’t really need to know. That’s what’s officially discouraged.
