Anyone have any thoughts on the troll versus stupid? Yes, I know, it’s both.

When someone says that “wetback” isn’t racist, and everyone and their mother says: “Dude, that is totally racist”, only a moron would double down. So, stupid absolutely. Trolling? Perhaps not if he’s stupid, but I’ve got no patience for ignorant racists be they stupid or trolling.

The two are not mutually exclusive.

He’s chosen to post on the subject where he’s going to get the most conflict.

Deliberately creating conflict, and deriving entertainment from said conflict, is something that trolls do. Whether or not they really believe the stuff they’re using to create conflict.

It’s complicated.

I’ve met Clothahump in real life on several occasions. It would probably surprise a lot of people here to find out he’s a very pleasant person.

He’s not a troll. He’s not faking his political views on this board. He really believes this stuff.

I also don’t feel he’s stupid although I disagree with most of the political opinions he holds.

But in real life, we mostly avoid the subject of politics. On non-political topics, he’s an easy person to talk to and get along with. If he stayed off politics on this board and only posted on other subjects, he’d probably be a well-liked regular.

So I don’t understand why he’s let his output on this board be so dominated by politics. He’s chosen to post on the subject where he’s going to get the most conflict. Maybe he feels this is the subject the members of this board most need to hear. Maybe he posts here as an outlet so he can avoid confrontation in his real life. I don’t know.

This doesn’t explain why he doesn’t debate, as the OP points out. He’s entitled to contrary positions and I, for one, would love to hear more on why the Obama presidency was so terrible (other than a blanket statement that it was the worst thing ever) or why Trump is the best.

It also doesn’t explain his earlier admission of trolling.

It’s not conservatives, it’s just you. I’ve tried, again and again, to engage you in reasonable discussion. At best, you’ll toss off a single post, with a tiny bit of thought, and ignore any reasonable responses. But the attacks and insults, you always respond to in kind. So you take insults and respond, but reasonable engagement? That’s not something you’re interested in, based on your posting history.
