Why does this happen?(Computers)

On my address bar, when I type in lets say http://www.e, excite lights up. This is probably some kind of cookie stored on my system, but I delete my cookies turn them all off and delete the temporary internet files, restart the computer and it still shows up. I don’t have any of them bookmarked either.

How do I get rid of these, I have tons of them showing up and I want to go back to a site without typing the whole thing and not having to scroll through all of them and not have to bookmark them.

Why does this happen, and how do I get rid of them?

In Internet Explorer, Tools>Internet Options>General tab>Clear History

That should work for IE5, other browsers/versions should be similar.

They still come back, I downloaded the internet explorer because they made me very angry and that took care of it for 3 days!

just to see if they would pop up in a few days

That’s the autocomplete, not the history.

Go to Tools > Internet Options > Content > Autocomplete

Click on “Clear forms” to stop it, and uncheck the various options if you don’t want it to happen again.

How about Tools -> Internet Options -> General -> Delete Files, and when the dialogue box pops up, be sure to check the “Delete all offline content” box.

For Internet Explorer 5.0, the option is under

Tools>Internet Options>Advanced>Use Inline Autocomplete for web addresses.

That ought to keep the wife from knowing about all the porn sites you visit.

Plus, you can drop that http:// as its not necessary. Also www is also often not necessary. Thus, this becomes:
straightdope.com type that in, it works

How about Internet Explorer 5 Macintosh Edition?

Or you can just stop going to those embarassing rodent sex pages that you don’t want to pop up when your mom uses the computer.
