Why doesn't Fox News have any Black Anchors?

This is a serious questions. Why? If they are Fair and Balanced wouldn’t they want a news force representative of that? Also, do they have any other minority anchors other than Rivera?

source:

Is it impossible for a news channel to be fair and balanced unless their anchors represent the demographics of the country?

Fox is not fair or balanced, and using race as a basis for selecting their on air personnel won’t change that.

Is this the Pit? No? OK, let me just think about your question… Hmmmmm… I wonder why that might be…? Hmm. Is that true? Because that would surely be suspicious. Hmmmm, I’m thinking of a reason, but until this appears in the Pit, I’d better bite my tongue.
P.S. Watching Fox News hurts my brain, so I don’t do it. Are you SURE there are no Black anchors?

Might speak volumes for the professionalism of black anchorites.

Because its hard to find blonde black people, obviously.

What about Arthel Neville, she was on yesterday afternoon.

Arthel Neville currently serves as a co-host for “FOX & Friends First.” Presented weekdays at 5 AM/ET, the program is an hour-long expansion of “FOX & Friends” and is anchored by a pair of rotating hosts. Additionally, Neville anchors the weekend newscast, “America’s News Headquarters,” (Saturday, 4-7 PM/ET) and is a weekly

I’m hardly a fan of Fox News, but IMO this is not a racial thing, even if valid conclusions could be drawn from such a small sample size.

I guarantee you that if they had an opening, Fox would give a show to Allen West or Clarence Thomas or Condoleezza Rice.

Heck, they would MAKE an opening for either of the latter two.

I stand corrected!

Perhaps my cite was misinformed or intentionally misleading?

I just assumed that Herman Caine had a show on FOX already. Seems to be a weird flaw in my understanding of the Universe that it isn’t so.

Maybe your cite’s just out of date? Another thing it’s wrong about is zero African American anchors on MSNBC on the weekends. Melissa Harris-Perry hosts a 2 hour show Saturday and Sunday, but her show is (I think) less than a year old.

I can understand [del]a black[/del] anyone not wanting to work there.

my cite says 2011
and the bio says she started in 2010, so I am guessing the cite isn’t counting her since she is not a full-time regular anchor and listed as a contributor or rotating anchor, which is slightly misleading

Honestly, I never noticed race, but I was freaked by how much they either looked like reanimated nursing home corpses or rubber-faced Dick Tracy goons.

Keep in mind, shows like “Fox and Friends” and the vast majority of their programming has been weaseled by the network itself as “not news”.

9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. is allegedly when the news is on, so anything from 4-6pm (Used to be Glenn Beck, not sure what it is now) and anything after 8pm is supposedly editorial and not to be confused with News.

This, of course, is from 2010, so I’m not sure what their official position is. I didn’t watch it, but I understand on election night all objectivity pretty much disappeared. I wish I had seen it.

Why? You can cuss all you like outside the Pit, as long as it isn’t directed at another Doper.

It’s scary enough having a black president!

There this pretty lady, as well.

Anchors are designed to drag through the muck and stop you there. Maybe all the black anchors they tried out didn’t catch the seafloor very well and didn’t rake through the muck very well.

Even if we accept the numbers from your source as true, it’s not like those are exactly glowing reviews of the diversity at the other stations. A whole ONE colored person on the air? Slow down that progress train, CNN, it’s moving too fast for me!

That actually did make me laugh out loud. Kudos, Diosa!
